Vulnerable children in the UK need your help

Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

A bit about the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to manage and support a brand-new delivery team within our employability service. As a Service Co-ordinator managing a team across South Lanarkshire or South / East Ayrshire, you’ll be part of a supportive team delivering high-quality employability support to young people. Your role is hands-on, varied and deeply rewarding. As well as managing the team you will have the opportunity to work one-to-one with young people to understand their strengths, barriers and aspirations, helping them build confidence and take practical steps towards sustained employment.

You’ll manage the design and delivery of tailored employability sessions taking into consideration personal development and essential skills throughout their time with us.

You will drive continuous quality improvement, ensuring we meet the expectations of funders and internal management and reporting requirements

How you'll help to create brighter futures

Some key responsibilities of a Service Coordinator role are;

  • Ensure that staff monitor, record, and review progress at set intervals, providing additional support as needed to meet goals.
  • Assist staff in organising, delivering, and evaluating interventions and programs for children, young people, and families.
  • Maintain awareness of Health & Safety regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of all service users, staff, and visitors.
  • Provide supervision, line management, mentoring, and coaching to staff, partner colleagues and occasional students.
  • Support the CSM in meeting regulatory and legislative requirements for the service.
  • Ensure contract requirements and reporting for service delivery are met within relevant timescales.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with partnership colleagues.
  • Manage delegated responsibility for the service budget.

Let's talk about you

  • Significant post qualification experience of working with young people through a multi-agency environment and achieving positive outcomes through intervention.
  • Understanding of leadership within the delivery of service user needs assessment, ensuring accurate and update retention of information
  • Experience of chairing, supporting and contributing to service/partnership planning meetings.
  • Experience of effective people management
  • Experience of effective partnership working and outcome/impact reporting
  • Experience of demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and an ability to promote the wellbeing and welfare of young people.
  • Demonstrable integration of equality and diversity into practice and service delivery.

Why Action for Children?

Every child should have a loving home, food, warmth, the chance to grow and learn - the support to cope with life’s challenges. But too many children don’t. By bringing your passion and unique skills and experience, you’ll help us change that where it really matters.

We've been driven by love to take action for children for over 150 years, giving them the protection and practical help they need. A lot’s changed since 1869. But what children really need, hasn’t. So as long as children need us, we’ll be here.

Our Commitment to Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism

At Action for Children, we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and able to thrive. We know that racism and discrimination create barriers, and we are taking active steps to challenge these inequalities in our organisation and in the communities we serve.

We strongly welcome applications from people who are Black, Asian, or from other racialised and ethnically marginalised communities, as well as disabled people, who are currently under-represented in our workforce. We are committed to removing barriers in our recruitment processes and ensuring fair access to opportunities.

We also encourage applications from men, who are under-represented in our Children’s Services roles. We recognise that people hold multiple identities, and we value the richness this brings to our team.
