Adaptix is redefining medical and industrial imaging with portable, low-dose 3D X-rays. Discover how we’re shaping the future.

Want to be part of a team transforming healthcare?

We are looking for a collaborative System Test Engineer to take on testing of our 3D X-ray imaging systems, from software builds to the complete system, and to help shape how verification works across our medical and industrial products.

Working within the Engineering team, you will get to know our existing automated and manual testing, help bring it together and contribute to our verification strategy. You will be hands-on in writing and running tests, extending the test harness and verifying releases, and over time take on more responsibility for what we verify at each level, how it traces to requirements and risk, and what "ready to release" means for a product on the market under design controls.

We are looking for someone who enjoys testing hardware and software together, wants to understand what verification in a regulated industry demands, and is keen to grow into a broader role. You will help raise the standard of testing across the engineering team.

The Company

Medical imaging helps patients by enabling early and accurate diagnosis. However, 2D X-rays can be inconclusive as they give a fundamentally limited view of our 3D bodies. 3D images are possible with CT scanners but these are much more expensive, give a higher dose of radiation and moving a critically ill patient to a scanner can be labour-intensive and risky.

At Adaptix we are helping make 3D imaging more accessible to the people who need it by producing mobile flat-panel X-ray systems that can be brought to patients - giving low-cost, low-dose imaging.

Candidate Profile

As our ideal candidate, you will have a degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience, along with demonstrable professional experience in testing systems that combine hardware and software, or a clear eagerness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Main responsibilities

  • Contribute to the test strategy for our 3D X-ray imaging products, covering integration, software and system levels, from continuous testing throughout development to formal testing during verification and validation, and grow into owning it over time
  • Maintain and extend the existing test automation, and help bring it together into a coherent framework
  • Design and run software and system-level verification, including hardware and firmware integration
  • Carry out regression testing and release verification for a product on the market under design controls, in accordance with applicable standards including IEC 62304 and ISO 14971
  • Work with the Quality team to maintain traceability from verification to requirements and risk management, and to document test evidence to the standard required for audits and regulatory submissions
  • Help ensure the shared platform is tested once and each vertical, including medical, veterinary and non-destructive testing, gets the appropriate level of rigor
  • Help build and extend the test harness, test rigs and CI integration
  • Use AI tools effectively to accelerate test automation, ensuring the results meet the standard required for regulated test evidence
  • Support developers in writing good tests and help raise the standard of testing across the team

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable professional experience in testing systems that combine hardware and software, or a clear eagerness to learn: the ability to pick up hardware-level testing quickly and an existing interest in testing within a regulated industry
  • Some experience of working under a regulated or safety-critical process, or a willingness to learn
  • Ability to build: proficiency in Python, experience putting tests into CI, and experience writing or extending a test harness
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and to work well with engineers across disciplines

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Familiarity with IEC 62304 and ISO 14971, or equivalent standards in another regulated industry
  • Hardware-in-the-loop or test-rig experience, including firmware-level testing
  • Familiarity with Windows and embedded systems
