Position: Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

Location: Good Shepherd hospital; Barrington, IL.

Full Time (0.8 status working 32 hours a week); 1st shift

~Includes 8 hours a week teaching EMS education to fire departments.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct coordinate and manage the operational activities of the Emergency Management Program at AGSH.
    • Develops the Emergency Preparedness Committee including support to other Advocate Health Care Emergency Preparedness Committee Planning.
    • Develops, plans, monitors, and evaluates quality improvement activities related to emergency preparedness
    • Develop, plan, monitor, and evaluate the HICS (hospital incident command system) and NIMS (National Incident Management System) at AGSH
    • Develop, plan, monitor, evaluate the educational component of the HICS and NIMS program and participation in NRP (National Response Plan)
    • Develop, plan, monitor, and evaluate community education programs in relation to disaster preparedness
    • Develop, plan, monitor, and evaluate disaster preparedness program to maintain compliance with the HRSA grant. • Coordination of data collection and evaluating of priority areas identified in HRSA deliverables with submission of HRSA grant reporting as required
    • Promote oversight for other grant initiative projects
    • Attend meetings related to emergency preparedness on county, regional, state and national disaster response planning.
    • Work in collaboration with EMS Coordinator to provide oversight for local/regional exercises that will evaluate effectiveness of the AGSH emergency preparedness program to include (but not limited too); surge, PPE, decontamination, isolation, hospital laboratory, hospital pharmacy, communication, and bioterrorism plans
    • Work collaboratively with local and regional hospitals and governmental agencies to develop, plan, monitor, and evaluate regional disaster preparedness planning such the Illinois Mutual Aid Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and other plans •11. Work with POD hospital and the community to develop, plan, monitor, evaluate and promote interagency mutual aid plans •12. Functions as the hospital liaison to local, county, state and federal emergency planning and response offices. •13. Maintains awareness of the dynamic and changing aspects of emergency planning, and keeps leadership abreast of those changes •14. Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulation committees and Accrediting Organization.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate and manage hazmat activities and education as the AGSH Hazmat Officer
    • Co-Chairs the hazmat committee
    • Develop. plan, monitor, and evaluates the hazmat program at AGSH
    • Develop, plan, monitor, and evaluate all hazmat training programs at the hospital • Functions as lead instructor for hazmat education programs
    • Monitor compliance with OSHA, Accrediting Organization and all other regulatory agencies for hazmat training
    • Maintains records for associate training and education in hazmat
    • Attends and reports to the EOC and Safety Committees as required
    • Maintains awareness of the dynamic and changing aspects of hazmat planning and keeps leadership aware of those changes
    • Develops, plans, monitors, and evaluates quality improvement activities related to hazmat
