Drawing Office Supervisor - Engineering

AHIT Recruitment is seeking a highly experienced Drawing Office Supervisor on behalf of an established engineering organisation based in Secunda, Mpumalanga.

This opportunity is ideal for an accomplished draughting professional with extensive technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities and a strong background in engineering design and drawing office management.

The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the drawing office, lead a team of draughting professionals and ensure the accurate, efficient and timely delivery of high-quality engineering drawings and documentation.

Drawing Office Management & Technical Oversight

• Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of the drawing office, including draughting personnel, resources and project deliverables.

• Plan, coordinate and oversee all engineering draughting activities to ensure accuracy, efficiency and adherence to project deadlines.

• Review engineering drawings, layouts and technical documentation to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.

• Prepare and modify technical drawings using engineering concepts, sketches, calculations and specifications.

• Collaborate closely with engineers and other technical professionals to resolve design-related challenges.

• Maintain effective drawing control, document management and distribution processes.

• Identify opportunities to improve draughting processes, productivity and technical quality.

Project Coordination & Delivery

• Coordinate multiple engineering projects and draughting assignments simultaneously.

• Establish project priorities, allocate resources and monitor progress against deadlines.

• Ensure drawings and technical deliverables meet project specifications and client expectations.

• Communicate project requirements, timelines and deliverables to the draughting team.

• Identify and address technical challenges that could affect project delivery.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor and supervise a team of draughting professionals.

• Allocate responsibilities and monitor individual and team performance.

• Provide technical guidance, coaching and training.

• Identify skills development opportunities and implement improvements.

• Foster a collaborative, accountable and high-performance working environment.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, quality management systems and regulatory requirements.

• Implement and maintain draughting procedures, drawing standards and quality control processes.

• Conduct internal quality reviews to minimise errors and unnecessary rework.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering department.

• Draughting Diploma – essential.

• More than 15 years' relevant draughting experience – essential.

• Extensive experience in engineering draughting within the built environment.

• Proven ability to supervise, coordinate and lead draughting teams.

• Strong understanding of complex engineering drawings, technical specifications and design principles.

• Proficiency in CAD draughting software, particularly Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk Revit.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

• Strong technical problem-solving and quality assurance capabilities.

Advantageous

• Previous experience within the oil and gas industry.
