AIG

American International Group is an insurer founded in Shanghai in 1919 that grew into one of the largest financial institutions in the world before its near-collapse in 2008, when losses on credit default swaps written against mortgage securities forced the largest government rescue of a single company in American history. It has spent the years since dismantling that conglomerate, separating its life and retirement business as Corebridge and selling numerous units, and it now concentrates on commercial property and casualty insurance. Headquartered in New York, it is a considerably smaller and simpler company than the one that failed.

Join us as a Marketing & Communications Programme Lead on an 18 month maternity FTC to drive impactful marketing programmes and digital initiatives that enhance global consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness. Working closely with regional teams and leadership, you will play a crucial role in aligning marketing and communications strategies across International Commercial and Global Personal.

Make your mark in Marketing & Communications

The Marketing & Communications team contributes to shaping AIG's corporate reputation, global brand and valuation in the marketplace and supporting AIG’s businesses to help strategically position them for continued growth and profitability. Our multi-disciplinary global team acts as an in-house “agency” - deploying high-quality external and internal campaigns and events that inspire, inform and engage our colleagues, clients, partners and other stakeholders.

How you will make an impact

This is fantastic role within our International Marketing & Communications team, where you can really make your mark by working closely with our Chief Marketing & Communications Officer (CMCO) to lead on global marketing and communications projects.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Lead international marketing programmes and projects to support the CMCO for AIG International Commercial and Global Personal.
  • Drive digital, product and proposition marketing related international initiatives, ensuring the efficient creation and deployment of assets across markets.
  • Define standard processes for channels and campaigns, including briefing, targeting and segmentation, tracking, and attribution/reporting, leveraging CRM and wider technology.
  • Oversee deployment and project alignment across marketing and communications technology, developing standard templates for platforms and reporting.
  • Manage international alignment and prioritisation of Marketing & Communications programmes alongside Chief Underwriting Officers (CUO), Distribution, and/or Line of Business (LOB) leaders, ensuring consistent positioning and messaging.
  • Lead product-related and knowledge/expert-led content programmes, ensuring alignment with AIG’s strategic goals.
  • Working with business leaders and stakeholders to drive projects forward.
  • Managing quarterly dashboard processes and attribution/ROI reporting to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and measurable impact.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Marketing and/or communications qualification.
  • Proven experience in general marketing, marketing operations, and/or project/programme management, particularly in an international, complex organisation.
  • Strong digital marketing expertise, including campaign management, CRM utilisation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to develop and standardise marketing processes, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Experience working across multiple business lines, aligning marketing initiatives with strategic priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong stakeholder management skills, working effectively with both marketing and communications teams.
  • Analytical approach to tracking, reporting, and optimising marketing efforts.
  • Understanding of marketing principles, strategy, planning and delivering effectiveness.
  • Ability to manage a complex workload and work autonomously to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
  • A great team player who is confident, proactive and self-motivated.

At AIG, we value in-person collaboration as a vital part of our culture, which is why we ask our team members to be primarily in the office. This approach helps us work together effectively and create a supportive, connected environment for our team and clients alike.
