Technical Trainer

About the Role

As a Technical Trainer for MOCVD equipment, you will enable Field Service Engineers and technical customer personnel to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support AIXTRON systems safely and independently.

Drawing on your own field-service experience, you will deliver hands-on, system-level training covering equipment operation, preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, recovery procedures, and service standards.

You will also assess technical competence and support the certification of Field Service Engineers at Basic, Advanced, and Expert levels.

Working closely with global service, engineering, and training teams, you will ensure consistent technical knowledge and service quality across regions. The role involves extensive international travel of approximately 80% to customer sites, regional offices, and AIXTRON headquarters in Aachen, Germany.

Responsibilities

· Design, develop, and deliver technical training programs for AIXTRON MOCVD equipment across Basic, Advanced, and Expert certification levels, with a strong focus on system functionality, service procedures, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe equipment operation.

· Deliver hands-on training for Field Service Engineers and customer personnel on complex MOCVD equipment, including system operation, preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, recovery procedures, and technical problem solving, not manufacturing.

· Transfer field-service expertise into structured training content, using practical experience from installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support to prepare participants for independent work on MOCVD systems.

· Create, review, and maintain technical training materials, including training modules, standard operating procedures, work instructions, technical manuals, troubleshooting guides, and certification assessments.

· Conduct technical certification assessments and make qualified recommendations on Field Service Engineer competency levels, training needs, and readiness for independent customer-facing field assignments.

· Work closely with the Global Training Team and technical experts to continuously improve training content, align global training standards, and incorporate lessons learned from field cases and customer installations.

· Travel extensively, to deliver training at customer sites, regional offices, and AIXTRON headquarters in Aachen, Germany.

Qualifications and Skills Required

·Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline preferred.

·At least two years of experience in equipment engineering, field service, technical customer support, or a comparable technical role in the semiconductor, CVD, PVD, or high-vacuum industry.

·Practical experience with MOCVD systems is required; experience with AIXTRON MOCVD systems is preferred.

·Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, vacuum, gas, and software control systems.

·Experience delivering technical training, conducting knowledge transfer, or supporting customers in a technical role; ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to audiences with different levels of knowledge and experience.

·Willingness and ability to travel internationally and work abroad for extended periods (up to 80%); ability to work independently and effectively in international and cross-cultural teams.

·Excellent written and spoken English skills.
