AJ Bell is a financial services enterprise specializing in online investment platforms and wealth management solutions. Headquartered in Manchester, United Kingdom, the company provides Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs), Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs), and share trading services for direct-to-consumer investors and professional financial advisers. Listed on the London Stock Exchange (FTSE 250), its digital platforms and discretionary portfolio management services enable both individual retail clients and institutional advisers to efficiently manage capital and retirement assets.

As a Senior Business Development Consultant, you’ll take ownership of developing new and existing relationships with financial advisers, increasing flows onto the AJ Bell Investcentre platform and growing adoption of our investment solutions.

You’ll combine targeted prospecting and campaigns with adviser meetings, working closely with our regional Business Development Managers to turn opportunities into sustainable new business. You’ll also bring your platform expertise to the wider team, helping develop colleagues and sharing knowledge.

This is a strong next step for an experienced platform sales professional who understands the UK adviser market and is ready for greater ownership and external exposure. You’ll help advisers feel confident choosing and using AJ Bell for their clients, with knowledgeable, straightforward support that makes them feel good investing.

What does the job involve?

  • Deliver your personal new business targets across our platform and investment propositions, managing opportunities from initial engagement through to conversion.
  • Work with a regional Business Development Manager to create and deliver a focused sales plan, identifying priority firms, opportunities and targeted campaigns.
  • Build relationships with new adviser firms while developing the commercial potential of existing relationships, including larger platform migration opportunities.
  • Generate and manage your own pipeline through intelligent targeting, proactive engagement and a strong understanding of firms that do not currently use AJ Bell Investcentre.
  • Help advisers understand the benefits of our platform, Managed Portfolio Service and multi-asset investment solutions through clear, relevant conversations.
  • Meet adviser firms face-to-face and online, represent AJ Bell at regional industry events, and work with colleagues to support the effective onboarding and development of new firms.
  • Act as a platform subject matter expert within Business Development, sharing your knowledge and supporting the development and mentoring of Business Development Consultants and other colleagues.
  • Maintain high professional, technical and regulatory standards, with a clear focus on positive outcomes for advisers and their clients.

What are we looking for?

You’ll already have experience in a target-driven platform or investment sales role, together with a track record of turning opportunities into new business.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong knowledge of the UK adviser platform market and a good understanding of how adviser firms operate and make platform decisions.
  • Experience selling platform, SIPP and investment solutions, ideally including multi-asset funds or Managed Portfolio Services.
  • A consistent track record of meeting or exceeding new business targets and building high-quality relationships with financial advisers.
  • A structured approach to managing a region, adviser segment or targeted sales campaign, with the ability to plan effectively and maintain momentum across longer sales cycles.
  • Confidence engaging with people at different levels, from operational contacts through to senior decision-makers.
  • Experience presenting to advisers in one-to-one meetings, small groups and at larger events.
  • Strong technical and regulatory awareness, combined with the commercial judgement to adapt your approach to different firms, stakeholders and market conditions.
