Junior Test Automation Engineer

Job Description:

Test Automation Engineers at Allegro are critical to ensuring the highest quality of SDLC processes and products delivered by the team. This role is essential for reducing the time required for thorough development testing by developing automated E2E tests and performing manual tests to identify typical and edge-case use cases. By providing testing support and delivering tools that streamline the testing process, you will directly impact the speed and quality of delivering business solutions.

• Flexible working hours in the hybrid model (4/1) - working hours start between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. We also have 30 days of occasional remote work.

• The salary range for this position depending on the skill set is as follows (contract of employment, tax-deductible cost): PLN 11 200 - 15 250

• Annual bonus based on your annual performance and company results.

• Our team is based in Poznań.

In your daily work you will handle the following tasks:

• Supporting the design and implementation of automated tests within the technology stack agreed upon with the team, while also executing and maintaining them.

• Creating and performing manual tests and collaborating with the team to define test criteria during new feature development.

• Actively participating in the entire product development cycle to help identify edge cases, mutually exclusive requirements, or logic gaps.

• Reporting identified bugs and supporting backlog prioritization to ensure platform stability.

• Maintaining the appropriate level of Quality Assurance within the team, particularly in SDLC processes.

• Collaborating with Software Engineers regarding test status reporting and with other Test Engineers within the domain.

• Writing clean, easy-to-read, and easy-to-debug code while contributing to the definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD).

• Acting as a "customer ambassador" - continuously evaluating the team's work from the end-user's perspective.

• Have basic practical experience or strong foundational knowledge of Java and backend automation libraries/frameworks (e.g., REST Assured, JUnit, TestNG).

• Understand how REST APIs and microservices work (comfortable with HTTP methods, JSON/XML, status codes, and API tools like Postman).

• Have a basic understanding of databases (SQL) and how backend systems process and persist data.

• See manual API/backend testing as the best way to truly understand a service before you start writing code to automate it.

• Want to be proud of the code you write, are open to feedback (code reviews), and willing to share your knowledge.

• Possess a keen eye for detail and a system-level, data-flow perspective rather than just a single-feature focus.

• Are eager to continuously develop your skills in a modern Java backend environment.

• Know English and Polish at B2 level or higher.
