Product & Technical Solutions Specialist

We are an established distributor of industrial tools, hardware, equipment and engineering solutions, serving customers across multiple industries.

We are looking for a commercially minded and technically capable professional to help us identify new product opportunities, develop practical customer solutions and strengthen our existing product portfolio.

Working closely with the CEO, Sales, Procurement and Operations, you will turn market research and customer requirements into practical proposals and lead approved initiatives through implementation.

1. Identify Product and Market Opportunities

• Research industrial products, suppliers, market trends and customer needs to identify potential business opportunities.

• Evaluate new products and improvements to our existing portfolio.

• Assess market demand, competitor offerings and commercial feasibility.

2. Evaluate Products and Develop Proposals

• Assess product specifications, applications, supplier options and suitability for customer requirements.

• Prepare proposals covering product benefits, target markets, sourcing options, estimated costs, pricing and potential margins.

• Present findings and recommendations to management for consideration.

3. Develop Customer Technical Solutions

• Work with Sales to understand customer challenges and recommend suitable products or product combinations.

• Research technical requirements and prepare product comparisons, technical proposals and recommendations.

• Participate in customer discussions and site visits where technical input is needed.

4. Lead Approved Product Initiatives

• Coordinate with Procurement, Sales, Operations, suppliers and other relevant stakeholders to introduce approved products or solutions.

• Support product launches, internal product briefings and sales materials.

• Follow up on implementation progress, customer feedback and commercial performance.

5. Improve the Existing Product Portfolio

• Review product relevance, competitiveness and performance.

• Identify gaps, underperforming products and opportunities to improve product selection, pricing or margins.

• Recommend suitable additions, replacements or discontinuation of products.

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or a related discipline.

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in technical sales, industrial products, product management, product development, engineering solutions or a related field.

• Ability to research products, understand technical specifications and evaluate commercial opportunities.

• Good analytical skills, including the ability to assess costs, pricing and profit margins.

• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to work with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

• Able to work independently, organise multiple projects and follow through on agreed actions.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, & other ERP Software.

Experience in industrial tools, hardware, equipment, MRO products, engineering supplies, distribution or technical solution sales will be an advantage.
