It’s an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in commercial electrical construction and advance into project management.

  • Prepare, organize, and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, transmittals, procurement logs, and other essential project documents.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules to understand scope requirements and identify potential conflicts or issues.
  • Coordinate project activities and information between field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, general contractors, and internal teams.
  • Track material orders, equipment deliveries, long-lead items, and procurement schedules to ensure materials arrive when needed.
  • Support project scheduling, budget monitoring, cost tracking, forecasting, billing, and financial reporting.
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, and coordination sessions to review progress, address issues, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Work with estimating and BIM/VDC teams to support constructability reviews, design coordination, material planning, and installation activities.
  • Maintain organized project files, meeting notes, correspondence, drawings, and tracking reports.
  • Assist with material takeoffs, purchasing activities, commissioning, punch lists, and final project closeout.
  • Identify and report potential delays, budget concerns, procurement issues, and coordination challenges to project leadership.
  • Help ensure project work complies with contract documents, technical specifications, quality requirements, and jobsite safety standards.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial construction, project engineering, or electrical construction.
  • Experience with a commercial electrical contractor or electrical subcontractor is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of commercial electrical systems, installation practices, construction sequencing, and field operations.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement records, and project schedules.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, construction specifications, contracts, and project timelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, competing priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Comfortable coordinating with field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, general contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Detroit metropolitan area.
  • Experience with healthcare, higher education, institutional, manufacturing, or industrial construction projects is a plus.

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Vehicle allowance, where applicable.
  • Technical training and professional development opportunities.
  • Mentorship from experienced project and field leadership.
  • Clear career path toward Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager positions.
