Altera is an American programmable logic company whose field programmable gate array business was founded in 1983, acquired by Intel in 2015 and separated again as a standalone company in 2025 when the private equity firm Silver Lake took a majority stake. It designs FPGAs and structured application specific integrated circuits used where a design must be reconfigurable after manufacture, which makes them common in communications infrastructure, industrial control, automotive, aerospace, defence and test equipment. Headquartered in San Jose, the company sells its Agilex and Cyclone device families alongside the Quartus design software engineers use to program them.

Job Description:

About Us

Altera is at the forefront of programmable logic and hardware acceleration. Our mission is to empower developers and system architects to rapidly design and deploy solutions using advanced FPGA and SoC technologies.

The Factory Applications team helps developers make effective use of Altera’s FPGA design tools and workflows, including FPGA AI Suite, High Level Synthesis (HLS), and DSP Builder. Our work brings together software, compilers, digital design, and application engineering to help users develop and optimize hardware-accelerated solutions. Join us to contribute to tools and workflows that support innovation in areas such as AI, signal processing, cloud computing, and embedded systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, validation, and maintenance of Factory Applications tools and workflows across FPGA AI Suite, HLS, and DSP Builder.
  • Help investigate, reproduce, and debug issues encountered when using application flows and related tools.
  • Develop or improve test cases, examples, scripts, and other resources that help validate features and demonstrate tool workflows.
  • Analyze application behavior and results to help identify opportunities to improve usability, performance, or quality.
  • Support integration and testing of new features across relevant tool flows.
  • Collaborate with engineers across software, compiler, FPGA, and applications teams.
  • Document findings and contribute to internal knowledge bases and technical materials.

What We Offer

  • Mentorship and hands-on training from experienced software, FPGA, and applications engineers.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
  • A supportive and innovative work environment.

Our compensation is designed to reflect the Canadian labour market. The actual salary offered may vary based on several factors, including the position’s location, as well as the candidate’s experience, skills, training, and job-specific knowledge. In addition to base salary, we offer performance-based incentive opportunities that reward both individual contributions and overall company success.

Estimated Salary Range: $95K - $100K CAD
