Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The Data Center Capacity Delivery Asia-Pacific Controls Deployment and Service (DCCD APAC CDS) team delivers and services the control systems that ensure the health of AWS data centers. Operating across Australia & New Zealand, India, North Asia, and Southeast Asia, APAC CDS manages 41 leased/owned sites and supports global follow-the-sun operations. APAC CDS covers three core disciplines: deployments (control systems in new data centers), projects (capital improvement works at live sites), and service (control systems at live sites), with additional specializations in colocated sites, systems engineering, controls fleet, program management, and coordination.

As Amazonians, we work in a competitive environment. Our customers are always beautifully, wonderfully dissatisfied. Being successful in our roles is not just about doing our jobs well, but also evolving and innovating. Change is the only constant, and applies to our customers, our roles, our team organization, our tools, and our mechanisms.

To be successful in this team, you will also have:

- Ability to thrive at the pace and scale of Amazon

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities

- Ability and willingness to collaborate with peers around the globe, which may involve some participation in meetings at odd hours

- Ability and willingness to travel domestically or globally as and when needed

Controls Deployment & Service (CDS) Engineers deliver and support data center building automation systems, such as Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). CDS Engineers work to deploy and service building automation systems, to ensure the health of our data centers. As a CDS Engineer, you may oversee deployment of a new BMS or EPMS as part of a new data center build, deliver projects to upgrade an existing data center owned or leased by Amazon, or deliver projects to upgrade colocated data centers with Amazon hardware. As a CDS Engineer, you may also be required to provide local servicing expertise to our fleet or data centers in your region, and occasionally assist with global support. Successfully working as a CDS Engineer will also require you to partner effectively with the many teams at Amazon that make our data center deployments and operations a success, including Construction, Commissioning, Critical Projects, Data Center Operations, Procurement, Program Management, Design, and Engineering teams, as well as maintaining strong relationships with our vendors.

Key job responsibilities

Deployment of data center controls, on time, with effective management of vendors to ensure minimal defects at the point of Power and Facilities Hand-Off (PFHO)

- Delivery of critical projects to upgrade data center automation

- Service and support provided to partner teams, providing diagnosis and resolution of Loss of Visibility (LOV), Loss of Resilience (LOR), Large Scale Event (LSE), Critical Scale Event (CSE), and other operations impacting events

- Resolution of tasks within predefined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

- Delivery of further initiatives to improve the efficiency of our data centers or our operations procedures

A day in the life

- Join the cloud leader: AWS has the most proven operational and security expertise, and the business is innovating at a faster clip-especially in new areas such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Serverless Computing, and custom-designed processors and chips.

- Be at the nexus of action: Your involvement in data center delivery will be mission-critical to the successful deployment of our data centers. You won’t just be observing from the sidelines; you’ll be representing Amazon, building relationships across a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

- Build at scale: Build and operate infrastructure at an enormous scale, participating in Amazon’s global presence.

- Your unique background will be an asset: At Amazon, our ability to innovate on behalf of our global customers and communities is dependent upon the skills, perspectives, and knowledge of people from all backgrounds.
