The Mission - Why This Program, Why Now?

Amazon Web Services is a dynamic and rapidly growing business. We provide a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses in 190 countries around the world. We provide organisations with building block web services that allow them to innovate faster and operate their software more cost-effectively. The AWS team is building and delivering the next generation of cloud computing that supports public AWS offerings like S3, EC2, and CloudFront. We are innovating new ways of building massively scalable distributed systems.

The team you're joining is growing, and the decisions being made now will shape how we operate for years to come. You won't be watching from the sidelines. You'll be leading from the front.

Your Role

Imagine leading a team of physical security professionals protecting AWS infrastructure. As an AWS Physical Security Operations Centre (PSOC) Lead, you'll be the strategic mind and decisive leader directing physical security operations that support the services hundreds of thousands of businesses depend on every single day.

This isn't passive oversight - this is active, intelligent security leadership where your judgment, experience, and ability to guide a team directly safeguards our assets. You'll employ physical security strategies and procedures in accordance with service level agreements, lead incident response to physical security events in real time, coordinate contracted guard forces, administer access control systems, and drive the intelligence gathering that keeps our people, operations, and infrastructure safe.

Every shift brings new challenges. Every decision your team makes matters. And every improvement you champion raises the security bar for an organisation that refuses to stand still.

Why This Team, Why Now?

You're stepping into a leadership role within a team of physical security professionals who are building something extraordinary. The PSOC is where operational excellence meets purpose - where your customer service instincts, your communication skills, and your security expertise converge to protect what matters most. Whether your background is in security operations centres, security dispatch centres, military, or law enforcement, your experience has prepared you for this moment.

This is where careers accelerate, where diverse paths are celebrated, and where the appetite to continuously improve isn't just welcomed - it's essential.

Shift work will also be an eventual requirement for this role.

Key job responsibilities

What does an Physical SOC Lead (PSOC) Lead do at AWS?

Daily responsibilities include physical access control administration, monitoring physical access control systems, monitoring a contracted guard force, alarm and incident response, report writing, intelligence gathering and distributing program wide notifications when necessary.

You will also manage internal and external email and phone communications, triage trouble tickets, handle incoming queries, and provide technical support to internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate should have a proven record of accomplishment of customer service, extensive experience in security and risk management, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrate good judgment while multi-tasking. The candidate will also be able to follow PSOC tasks, procedures, and utilise discretion when dealing with sensitive information.

Most importantly the candidate will possess the appetite and inclination to continually identify ways to improve and raise the bar for security.
