AMD

AMD is an American semiconductor company founded in 1969 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, that designs processors, graphics chips and adaptive computing hardware without owning fabrication plants. Its Ryzen and Threadripper processors and Radeon graphics serve consumers and creators, EPYC server chips have taken a large share of the data centre market from Intel, and the Instinct accelerators compete for AI training and inference workloads. The 2022 acquisition of Xilinx added field-programmable gate arrays and adaptive systems on chip, and the company also supplies the custom silicon inside the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a hands-on Systems Validation Engineer to join AMD's Data Center GPU Validation team. In this role, you will help ensure the quality, reliability, security, and manageability of AMD's next-generation accelerator platforms powering AI and high-performance computing workloads around the world.

Working at the intersection of hardware, firmware, and software, you will develop and execute validation strategies for system management, telemetry, firmware lifecycle, security, and reliability features. You will collaborate closely with architects, silicon designers, firmware engineers, software developers, and customers to identify issues, drive resolution, and help deliver industry-leading products to market.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building automated test solutions, and working across multiple layers of the system stack.

THE PERSON:

You are a curious and hands-on engineer who enjoys understanding how complex systems work and takes pride in finding and solving difficult technical problems. You thrive in a collaborative environment, are comfortable working across hardware and software boundaries, and have a passion for improving product quality through thoughtful validation and automation.

The ideal candidate combines strong debugging and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly, learn new technologies, and drive issues to resolution in a fast-paced development environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Telemetry testing (PLDM, Redfish), FW Loading and Security related to firmware.
  • You will be part of the Validation organization working both internally and externally to do testing in house and co-validation with our customers and partners.
  • Develop, automate, and execute test cases for system management, telemetry, firmware, security, and reliability features while expanding validation coverage across current and future products.

  • Drive end-to-end validation activities including test planning, automation development, test execution, debug, root-cause analysis, and issue tracking.

  • You will also get involved in RAS testing and leverage tooling for hardware problem isolation.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in system, platform, firmware, server, GPU, or SoC validation with a strong understanding of hardware/software interactions.

  • Experience with PLDM and Redfish protocols/specifications
  • Experience with firmware upgrade/downgrade and security testing
  • Understanding and experience with SPDM, eROT, Attestation testing
  • Experience working on GPU/Compute Accelerators a plus
  • Experience creating, executing and debugging test cases
  • Programming/scripting skills to support test case development
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Linux & windows skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree with years of experience, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Sciences, or related fields, or equivalent
