In this vital role, the Senior Manager, Incentive Compensation Administration Lead will provide senior leadership for the accurate, timely, compliant, and scalable administration of field incentive compensation programs. The role will lead delivery across internal and external teams in AIN and India, while managing relationships across a complex set of internal teams and functional groups.

This is a high-impact role responsible for end-to-end IC administration and operations, including cycle delivery, data and calculation controls, payment readiness, governance, platform operations, and continuous improvement. The role will serve as a trusted operational partner to Amgen’s U.S. Commercial organization.

Responsibilities

• Key Integrator: Act as the main point of contact and representative in India for the Incentive Compensation Administration team.
• Talent Development: Train, develop, and manage talent to meet organizational needs.
• Incentive Compensation Administration and Operational Leadership
  • Lead the accurate, timely, and compliant administration of approved IC plans and compensation cycles, ensuring plan rules, governance requirements, internal controls, and business timelines are consistently met.
  • Oversee end-to-end operational delivery across data intake, eligibility validation, crediting, calculation review, payment-file preparation, payout coordination, reconciliations, exception management, reporting, and post-payment validation.
  • Monitor operational performance, payout trends, processing timelines, data-quality issues, field inquiries, and potential outliers; escalate material risks and drive appropriate corrective actions with stakeholders.
• Operational Excellence, Governance, and Delivery:
  • Lead end-to-end IC program operations, ensuring quality, scalability, and operational efficiency while establishing clear delivery priorities, service levels, quality controls, and accountability across the team and vendor partners.
  • Establish and enforce governance standards by ensuring robust documentation practices, traceable audit trails, and effective control mechanisms across incentive compensation operations.
  • Lead operational management of the IC technology platform, partnering with IT, vendors, and IC stakeholders to support platform enhancements, integrations, testing, and effective implementation of approved changes.
  • Serve as the senior subject matter expert for IC operational data and administration, providing guidance and actionable solutions for data-related challenges, calculation questions, and complex field inquiries.
• Automation, Technology, and Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead identification, prioritization, testing, and implementation of automation opportunities that strengthen IC administration, controls, accuracy, timeliness, and scalability.
  • Support the evaluation and adoption of approved AI-enabled and digital solutions by providing IC administration domain expertise and validating operational readiness, controls, and outputs.
• Lead the identification and prioritization of process improvements across IC administration, documentation, reporting, data controls, and vendor ways of working.
• Stakeholder and Delivery Management: Partner with global stakeholders to clarify operational requirements, coordinate decisions and delivery milestones, resolve issues, communicate progress, and ensure IC administration delivers a reliable field experience.

Basic Qualifications

• Master’s degree & 10+ years of experience in Incentive Compensation administration and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree & 12+ years of experience in Incentive Compensation administration and operations.
• 3+ years of leadership experience directly managing people, teams, projects, programs, and directing the allocation of resources.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant sales force effectiveness, sales operations, and field platforms and systems (i.e. CRM, sales operations enablement, reporting) in the bio/pharmaceutical industry and/or consulting experience.
• Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions is crucial. This includes proficiency in statistical analysis and familiarity with tools like Excel, SQL, and data visualization software.
• Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of relevant software and technologies, such as sales planning and operations platforms (targeting, alignment and roster management, incentive compensation), sales CRM, and other field-specific tools, is important.
• Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex IC operational issues, assess risk, and implement practical, compliant solutions.
• Project Management: Ability to lead cross-functional teams to manage IC administration initiatives, platform enhancements, annual cycles, and process improvements.
• Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for initiatives
• Communication: Effective communication is key, both in writing and verbally. This includes the ability to present data and findings clearly to stakeholders and team members.
• Oral, written and presentation skills to explain complex concepts and controversial findings clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management
• Comfortable challenging the status quo and bringing forward innovative solutions
• Ability to identify areas for process and systems innovation and implement change that will enhance the overall effectiveness of the team
