We’re hiring a contract AI engineer who builds, deploys and operates AI agents in production, using leading-edge agentic development practice to ship quickly.
The AI Platform team builds AI agents and products for the trucking and fleet compliance space, used by both our customers and our internal teams.
Why this role
If you want to build systems that run in production rather than demos, this is that job. Your agents will work across tolling and millions of compliance documents, for customers who haul everything from food to fuel.
You’ll work with more than 10 years of toll, inspection, safety and vehicle data across all 50 states. What you ship affects revenue, safety and compliance directly.
What you’ll do
- Design, build and deploy AI agents end to end, from first spec to production.
- Ship early and iterate on feedback from real users.
- Work with product, support and engineering stakeholders to turn loose problems into clear requirements.
- Own what you ship once it’s live: monitoring, evals, cost and failure handling.
- Help the team move faster by bringing in and spreading best practices in agentic engineering.
How we work
Our engineers use coding agents as their main way of building software, and we expect you to already work that way. Most of your time goes to defining the work, checking what agents produce and making the calls that matter, not typing every line.
In practice that means breaking work into pieces an agent can finish and you can verify, running several agents in parallel, and relying on tests, CI and agent review so speed doesn’t cost quality. When something goes wrong, you improve your setup so it doesn’t happen again, and you package what works as skills the rest of the team can reuse.
What we’re looking for
- You have a track record of shipping agents and AI features to production, with users who rely on them today.
- You own the full path to production yourself, from infrastructure and deployment to monitoring.
- You use evals and data to decide when an agent is ready to ship and to measure whether it’s succeeding once it’s live.
- You can go deep on the design decisions and tradeoffs in what you’ve shipped.
- You write strong Python or TypeScript and have built with LLM APIs and MCP.
- You’ve worked with agent frameworks or SDKs and know when not to use one.
- You work independently, gather requirements from non-engineering stakeholders and give specific answers. When you don’t know something, you say so.
- A background in logistics, transportation or compliance is a plus.
Interviews are hands-on: expect to walk through something you’ve built and shipped, in detail.
Hours: Overlap with 9am-5pm US Eastern for standups and stakeholder work
