About the Role

The Field Product Readiness Engineer is an experienced technical role within the sPDP Center of Excellence, part of the Strategic Program Office. The role leads service product readiness execution for a product line, complex module introduction, or multi-site readiness stream across Etch, MDP, DDP, Packaging, and PDC. The engineer aligns field, SBU, BU, GPS, and customer technical inputs to improve serviceability, reduce readiness gaps, and support successful transition from early readiness activities through NPI and HVM.

Role Purpose

  • Lead readiness validation and cross-functional gap closure before field introduction for assigned product readiness scope.
  • Translate field observations, tool data, and customer/site impact into actionable recommendations for product, service, and SBU teams.
  • Use sprint discipline, KPI tracking, and structured feedback loops to improve field readiness, serviceability, and customer execution outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Service Readiness

  • Lead readiness validation for complex products, new modules, or multi-site readiness streams across service documentation, tooling, PM/CM, training inputs, spare strategy, and AIx readiness.
  • Drive closure of cross-functional readiness gaps before field introduction, ensuring traceability between readiness criteria and field introduction risks.
  • Provide field-grounded technical recommendations to SBU, BU, GPS, and field teams to improve serviceability and reduce SRR-SARR gaps.

Eval / ELS / Beta / NPI / HVM Execution

  • Lead first install and readiness execution across local or regional teams, coordinating blockers through resolution.
  • Capture red-line updates, lessons learned, and field know-how from early deployments and embed them into knowledge transfer for local teams.
  • Ensure readiness learnings are translated into practical updates for installation, PM, CM, training, and support materials.

Tooling, Procedures & Product Feedback

  • Lead validation and improvement of CE tooling, jigs, install procedures, PM procedures, and CM procedures for complex readiness scope.
  • Frame technical problems using data, field impact, and recommended next steps for product/SBU reviews.
  • Drive structured feedback loops with respective SBU teams, including sprint retrospectives and product readiness reviews.

FMECA, Control Plans & Escalation

  • Develop out-of-control action plans and escalation structures for product line issues, including fault detection control where applicable.
  • Use FMECA learning and recurring issue patterns to drive systemic fixes and reduce future readiness escapes.

Program & Sprint Execution

  • Lead field sprint planning, execution, review, and retrospectives for product readiness scope.
  • Own backlog quality, SOW clarity, project data updates, risk-to-resolution tracking, and blocker removal across the readiness stream.
  • Use sprint KPIs such as MTBF, FTR, defect rate, and pre/post performance to prioritize readiness decisions and backlog actions.

Customer & Cross-Functional Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison for product readiness topics with SBU TPM, field, BU, GPS, and customer technical counterparts.
  • Communicate difficult technical concepts clearly and persuade stakeholders with differing viewpoints to align around readiness actions.
  • Work with SBU on internal and external communication collaterals for product readiness lessons and technical updates.

Data, Modeling & AIx Readiness

  • Lead experiments, tool data analysis, and technical narrative development to support product readiness decisions.
  • Partner with AIx to ensure proactive digital solution coverage for CM and PM trends, including model propagation validation and signal/trend monitoring.
  • Translate analysis outputs into specifications, service recommendations, and customer-aware technical narratives.

What You Bring

  • 7-10 years hands-on experience in Etch, MDP-Metal Deposition Products, or DDP-Dielectric Deposition Products preferred.
  • Depth of expertise in product readiness, serviceability, and product introduction, with ability to lead functional projects.
  • Strong system-level understanding of equipment and fab operations, with practical experience translating field findings into actionable improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving capability for complex product/service issues using multiple data sources, field evidence, and customer/site context.
  • Project management discipline, including sprint execution, backlog management, SOW clarity, KPI tracking, reporting, and risk closure.
  • Strong communication skills, written and spoken, with the ability to influence without authority across internal and customer-facing stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, materials, chemical, industrial, automation engineering, or related discipline.
  • Regional or cross-regional travel for installation/readiness activities and knowledge transfer as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Strong working experience with agile/sprint delivery, Jira, and SOW development.
  • Experience with AIx tools, predictive maintenance, process optimization, product application engineering, or fab-side digital products.
  • Practical exposure to readiness governance, FMECA updates, control plans, and escalation structures for complex product introductions.

Success Measures

  • Readiness gaps are identified early, documented with evidence, and closed before high-risk field introduction milestones.
  • First install and early deployment lessons are captured, translated into red-line updates, and transferred effectively to local teams.
  • Sprint execution, backlog quality, and KPI tracking improve readiness predictability, serviceability, and field scalability.
  • AIx and data/modeling outputs are incorporated into CM and PM coverage for proactive readiness decisions.
