D&T Associate Manager - SAP BASIS

Purpose of the Job

The Associate Manager - SAP Basis is responsible for the operational management, administration, stability, performance, and continuous improvement of the organization's SAP landscape. The role provides hands-on technical leadership across SAP Basis administration, system monitoring, installations, upgrades, patching, transport management, security administration, high availability, disaster recovery, and technical support for SAP applications. Working closely with SAP functional teams, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, cloud providers, and external partners, the Associate Manager ensures the SAP platform remains secure, available, scalable, and aligned with business and technology standards while contributing to projects, transformations, cloud initiatives, and continuous service improvements.

Job Description

Customer:

• Deliver stable, secure, and highly available SAP services to business users.
• Minimize business disruption through proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance.
• Partner with SAP functional teams to deliver reliable technical support for business initiatives.
• Ensure timely resolution of Basis-related incidents while maintaining agreed service levels.

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to SAP Basis engineers and technical analysts.
• Share technical knowledge, standards, and best practices across the SAP CoE.
• Support capability development through coaching, technical guidance, and cross-training.
• Foster collaboration across infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, database, and cloud teams.

Operations:

• Administer and support SAP environments including SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP BW, SAP Solution Manager, SAP BTP, SAP Fiori, SAP Gateway, SAP Web Dispatcher, SAP PI/PO (or Integration Suite), SAP Content Server, SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Router, and other SAP technical components.
• Perform SAP system installations, upgrades, enhancement package implementations, support package stacks, kernel upgrades, technical patching, and overall system lifecycle management.
• Manage SAP system copies, client copies, client refreshes, system refreshes, environment provisioning, and landscape maintenance activities.
• Administer SAP HANA databases, including backup coordination, recovery support, database maintenance, performance monitoring, and optimization of SAP application servers, databases, operating systems, and interfaces.
• Manage SAP transport and release activities, including Transport Management System (TMS), ChaRM integration where applicable, transport sequencing, production releases, maintenance windows, planned outages, and deployment coordination.
• Monitor and maintain SAP system health, availability, performance, interfaces, background jobs, spool systems, locks, work processes, memory, CPU, storage utilization, monitoring tools, alerting platforms, and operational dashboards.
• Configure and support High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), failover environments, clustering, replication, business continuity solutions, and SAP technical security components including users, authorizations, RFCs, certificates, SSO, SNC, and identity management services.
• Maintain SAP integrations and cloud technologies, including RFCs, web services, APIs, middleware connectivity, printers, external integrations, SAP RISE, SAP BTP, cloud connectors, cloud integration solutions, and hybrid landscapes.
• Support SAP projects and technical architecture initiatives, including implementations, upgrades, rollouts, acquisitions, divestitures, architecture reviews, infrastructure improvements, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and automation through scripting, monitoring, and orchestration tools.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, recovery procedures, and technical standards while collaborating with infrastructure teams, ensuring compliance with ITIL processes, and participating in on-call support and major incident management activities.

Job Requirements - Experience and Education

• 7-10 years of SAP Basis administration experience within medium to large enterprise environments.
• Minimum 2 years in a technical leadership, Lead, or supervisory role.
• Hands-on experience supporting SAP S/4HANA landscapes.
• Experience administering SAP HANA databases.
• Experience supporting SAP cloud environments including SAP RISE and/or hyperscaler platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Experience with SAP upgrades, migrations, Unicode conversions, system copies, refreshes, and technical implementations.
• Experience supporting high-availability and disaster recovery architectures.
• Experience working within ITIL-based service management environments.
• Experience working with managed service providers and SAP support organizations.
