What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end asset capitalisation processes, ensuring accurate and timely recognition of capital expenditure in line with accounting standards and internal policies
- Partner with Commercial Finance and software development teams to assess capital vs expense treatment, supporting consistent and well-governed decision-making
- Oversee project accounting lifecycle, including development assets, transfers, disposals, and depreciation
- Review and approve capitalisation assessments, applying judgement to complex or non-standard transactions
- Drive integrity of the fixed asset register, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and robust audit trails
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including capitalisation journals, reconciliations, and disclosures
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP requirements and internal controls, proactively identifying and mitigating risks
- Lead audit engagement for fixed assets and capex processes, providing clear documentation and resolving queries efficiently
- Partner with Procurement and Project teams to improve capital governance, including controls over project setup, tracking, and closure
- Identify and deliver process improvements, including automation opportunities and standardisation across regions
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members, building capability in asset accounting and capitalisation principles
- Deliver reporting and insights on capital expenditure, asset movements, and depreciation to support business decision-making
What We're Looking For
- 5 + years experience in financial accounting with strong exposure to asset capitalisation, fixed assets, and project accounting
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS/GAAP related to PPE, intangible assets, and capitalisation policies
- Demonstrated ability to apply judgement in complex capitalisation decisions and articulate outcomes to stakeholders
- Experience operating in a large, complex, or multinational environment with high volumes of capex
- Strong control approach with a track record of maintaining robust financial governance and audit readiness
- Proven ability to partner with non-finance stakeholders (e.g. Technology, Operations, Procurement)
- Experience driving process improvements, simplification, and automation within finance operations
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Confident communicator, able to influence senior stakeholders and provide clear, concise guidance
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. D365) and asset management modules preferred
- Qualified accountant (CA/CPA or equivalent)
