Job Title: Senior Python Developer

About the Role

• Senior Python Backend Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and owning scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs. The role focuses on Python/FastAPI development, backend architecture, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native engineering. The candidate will drive technical decisions, build reusable platform capabilities, ensure high engineering quality, and collaborate across product, frontend, DevOps, QA, security, and platform teams.
• Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Own backend architecture, technical design, and implementation of complex systems.
• Design and consume APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Build reusable backend components, platform services, and integration capabilities.
• Design efficient data models and access patterns across relational and NoSQL databases.
• Implement caching, API security, performance optimization, and distributed system patterns.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, QA, DevOps, platform, and security teams.
• Troubleshoot production issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
• Develop unit, integration, and API test suites.
• Establish coding standards, engineering best practices, and CI quality gates.
• Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and refinements.
• Work with containers, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and cloud-native technologies.
• Leverage GitHub Copilot for development, refactoring, testing, documentation, and productivity.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on complex backend solutions.
• Minimum Qualifications
• 12-15 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python backend development.
• Proven experience building production-grade applications using FastAPI or similar Python frameworks.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing scalable platform services and reusable backend components.
• Strong experience with relational/NoSQL databases, Redis, caching, API security, testing, and performance tuning.
• Working knowledge of containers, GitLab pipelines/CI-CD, observability, and cloud-native engineering.
• Experience with Datadog or similar observability platforms.
• Azure experience, particularly Azure Container Apps and Azure Blob Storage, is desirable.
• Experience owning technical decisions and architecture for complex backend systems.
• Demonstrated experience using GitHub Copilot to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
• Strong Agile experience with excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
