Agentic Systems Engineer - Manufacturing

About the Role

The Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) is seeking two (2) Agentic AI Systems Engineers (Senior/System Engineer) to design, build, and deploy the software systems that power our agentic AI platform for manufacturing. This role owns the engineering backbone; APIs, services, data pipelines, and platform components that turns agentic AI solutions from prototype into production on the shop floor. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power agentic AI applications across the manufacturing platform.
• Develop and operate the data and integration layer; taxonomies, metadata, and structured stores that agentic AI applications depend on for manufacturing use cases.
• Collaborate with manufacturing domain experts to translate manufacturing processes and terminology into software interfaces and data models usable by manufacturing systems.
• Integrate platform services into agentic AI workflows, chatbot interfaces, and decision-support tools deployed on the shop floor.
• Contribute to the end-to-end development and deployment of agentic AI applications for real-world manufacturing use cases (e.g., maintenance, quality management, and production planning).
• Document APIs, services, and system architecture for internal teams and industry partners.
• Monitor service performance and continuously improve the reliability, scalability, and observability of deployed agentic AI applications.

Required Skills

• Solid backend development experience (Python, FastAPI, REST APIs).
• Experience designing and operating production services - versioning, testing, CI/CD, and deployment.
• Comfortable working with structured and unstructured data stores (SQL, NoSQL, graph, or document databases).
• Enthusiasm for building and deploying agentic AI applications that power real-world manufacturing solutions.
• Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, or cloud deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure/AWS/GCP) is an advantage.
• Exposure to manufacturing or industrial environments is a plus.

Qualifications

• BEng / MEng / MSc in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI, or related field.
• 2-5 years of relevant engineering or data engineering experience.
