Working as part of the Global Cell Bank compliance team, provides operational compliance coordination and specialist support to the Compliance Manager, scientists and cross-functional stakeholders. Completes defined activities with guidance, escalating complex licensing, contractual or regulatory matters as appropriate.

The Global Cell Bank is critical for delivering cellular models that enable drug discovery projects. We are seeking a motivated and organised individual with an interest in cell biology and compliance to support the Cell Line Compliance Manager. The role will have a particular focus on supporting US R&D teams with cell line licensing and compliance activities. Working within established processes, the role holder will coordinate documentation, maintain records, track renewals and payments, respond to routine enquiries, and work with scientists and internal partners to progress requests. Complex licensing, contractual and regulatory matters will be referred to the Compliance Manager or relevant subject-matter experts.

Typical Accountabilities:

  • Manage a defined portfolio of cell line compliance activities, with primary responsibility for supporting US R&D teams and oversight from the Cell Line Compliance Manager.
  • Act as a first point of contact for US scientists and operational teams, providing practical guidance on established licensing, contracting, usage, transfer and renewal requirements.
  • Coordinate routine licence, contract and permit activities from request through completion, applying judgement to resolve standard issues and escalating complex, novel or higher-risk matters.
  • Review information and documentation for completeness and alignment with agreed requirements, identify gaps or potential compliance risks, and drive timely resolution with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and timely compliance records in Limfinity and other agreed systems, including licence terms, permitted uses, transfers, renewals, approvals and key dates.
  • Plan and coordinate renewals, annual usage reviews, purchase orders and payments for the assigned portfolio, proactively following up overdue actions and escalating material delays or risks.
  • Build effective working relationships with Procurement, Legal, Finance, Biosafety, Ethics, scientists, vendors and Global Cell Bank colleagues to progress compliance activities and resolve operational issues.
  • Produce and interpret routine metrics and reports for the assigned portfolio, highlighting trends, data-quality concerns, overdue actions and emerging risks to the Compliance Manager.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures, guidance and training materials, and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, consistency and user experience of compliance processes.
  • Work in accordance with relevant policies, standards and controls, maintaining high-quality records and supporting audit or assurance activities when required.
  • Interpret standard licence and contract terms, including permitted use, transfer, affiliate and CRO rights, publication restrictions, expiry dates and renewal obligations, escalating ambiguous or higher-risk provisions as appropriate
  • Coordinate the end-to-end onboarding of new cell lines into the Global Cell Bank, ensuring required licences, approvals and supporting documentation are in place before release or use.

Essential:

  • Degree-level qualification, equivalent experience, or relevant scientific, business or compliance training
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple routine activities and deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and confidence working with colleagues across functions and locations
  • Ability to follow defined processes, recognise when information is incomplete and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and work effectively with databases, trackers and standard office applications
  • A collaborative and service-focused approach, with the flexibility to support US-based stakeholders across time zones when required
  • High ethical standards and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion

Desirable:

  • Experience in a scientific, compliance, legal operations, procurement or administrative support environment
  • Awareness of cell biology, cell line licensing, biosafety, ethical requirements or the drug discovery process
  • Experience supporting stakeholders in the US or working across international teams and time zones
  • Experience using workflow, records-management or laboratory inventory systems
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting licence or contract terms and translating them into practical guidance for business users
