Job Description

Overview

Do you enjoy bringing multidisciplinary teams together to deliver complex engineering solutions? Are you motivated by providing technical leadership, building strong stakeholder relationships, and guiding projects from concept through to successful delivery?

Join us as an Engineering Manager within our Major Projects division, where you'll help deliver some of the UK's and world's most complex and high-profile EPC and EPCM projects across infrastructure, transportation, energy, nuclear, industrial, and defence sectors. You'll play a key role in leading engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence, and supporting the successful delivery of major capital programmes from early development through to commissioning and handover.

At AtkinsRéalis, we recognise that successful engineering leadership comes from a diverse range of experiences, perspectives, and leadership styles. We are committed to creating an environment where you can develop your career, contribute to meaningful projects, and help shape solutions that make a lasting impact.

Your role

  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and FEED through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Provide engineering leadership across civil, structural, buildings, utilities, and infrastructure packages, ensuring effective integration between disciplines.
  • Oversee engineering delivery to achieve programme, budget, quality, safety, and technical performance objectives.
  • Coordinate design reviews, engineering assurance activities, and governance processes to support robust project delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, clients, and regulatory stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
  • Review and support key engineering deliverables, technical submissions, construction methodologies, and temporary works proposals.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities while supporting procurement, contractor engagement, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture while supporting the development, coaching, and growth of engineering teams.

About you

We take a strengths-based approach because we know successful leaders bring a variety of experiences, perspectives, and ways of working. You may find many of the following resonate with you:

  • You have experience leading multidisciplinary engineering delivery on major capital projects within complex and technically challenging environments.
  • You enjoy bringing people together, creating alignment across teams, and building strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • You have a strong understanding of engineering assurance, technical governance, change management, and quality processes.
  • You are confident managing engineering programmes, resources, budgets, schedules, and performance to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • You communicate clearly and effectively, influencing decisions and building credibility with clients, contractors, regulators, and project teams.
  • You take a proactive and solutions-focused approach to managing technical risks, resolving challenges, and driving continuous improvement.
  • You enjoy developing others through coaching, mentoring, and creating an environment where people can thrive and perform at their best.
  • You bring curiosity, resilience, sound engineering judgement, and a passion for delivering complex projects that create lasting value.
