Lead Process Engineer - Wastewater Treatment. Please note this role can be based in either our Sydney, Newcastle or Canberra office.

At Aurecon, we are engineering optimists who see the world differently. We ask what's possible and turn ideas into impact. Here, you'll bring your expertise to challenges that matter, alongside people who think boldly and are determined to make a difference.

What you'll do

As a Lead Process Engineer in our Wastewater Treatment team based in Sydney, Newcastle or Canberra, you'll lead process design and technical delivery across municipal wastewater, biosolids and recycled water projects, helping shape solutions for our clients and communities.

You'll work across multi disciplines, test ideas and engineer smarter ways to solve complex engineering challenges, while helping to grow our Australian wastewater treatment capability.

Some of the daily duties could include

  • Lead process engineering inputs for wastewater, biosolids and recycled water projects, from planning and concept design through detailed design, commissioning and operational optimisation
  • Develop, assess and review treatment process options, designs, calculations and technical documentation
  • Work directly with water utility clients to understand their operational challenges and develop practical, evidence-based solutions
  • Coordinate process engineering inputs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and specialists
  • Guide and support graduate and developing engineers, and contribute to technical reviews, project planning, proposals and client presentations

Your experience and expertise

  • A relevant engineering degree (chemical, civil or environmental) and strong experience in municipal wastewater process engineering, gained through relevant project experience
  • Experience developing process planning inputs and process designs, with a sound understanding of wastewater treatment fundamentals (process modelling experience is highly regarded)
  • Experience supporting or mentoring early career engineers
  • Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach to working with clients and multidisciplinary teams
  • The ability to see the big picture, challenge assumptions and bring diverse thinking

How we support your growth

Engineering possibilities for your career means having room to shape what comes next. You bring your ambition and commitment to lifelong learning, and we provide the foundation and development to help you turn your aspirations into achievement.

The Aurecon Way guides how we think, act and work together, what we value and how we invest in our people. You'll be part of a culture built on clear expectations, optimism and determination, where you can feel safe, included and empowered to speak openly, think boldly and deliver brilliantly.
