Hatch is seeking an accomplished Lead Structural Engineer in Perth to provide technical authority, discipline leadership, and strategic oversight within our Perth business. This senior role combines hands-on engineering, people leadership, and client engagement across Western Australia’s mining and resources sector. You will set the technical direction for Perth’s structural discipline, develop high-performing teams, and act as a trusted advisor to key mining and industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior technical authority for structural engineering across WA mining and industrial projects, including processing plants, materials handling infrastructure, NPI, and sustaining capital works.
- Lead and review complex steel and reinforced concrete designs in high-risk industrial and brownfield environments, ensuring constructability and safe integration with existing assets.
- Ensure all structural deliverables comply with Australian Standards, client-specific mining requirements, and internal technical governance frameworks.
- Perform or oversee independent technical checks and approvals of critical structural deliverables.
- Lead the Perth Structural Discipline, setting standards for quality, safety, consistency, and professional practice within the office.
- Mentor and develop engineers and designers, strengthening structural capability across mining and industrial projects.
- Build and maintain strong senior-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on technical risk, scope definition, and execution strategy.
- Provide senior project oversight, supporting Project Managers with technical risk management, resourcing strategies, and delivery of safety, quality, programme, and commercial objectives.
About You
You are a highly experienced structural engineer with a strong track record delivering complex mining and heavy industrial projects in Western Australia. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and are a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia. With 15+ years’ experience in a consulting environment, you bring proven capability in leading technical teams, providing sound engineering judgement, and upholding high standards of safety, quality, and governance. You have a deep understanding of WA mining operations, construction methodologies, and client expectations, and are confident engaging at a senior level with clients, project teams, and stakeholders. As a collaborative leader and mentor, you are passionate about developing people, strengthening technical capability, and contributing to the long-term success of the business.
