Carpenter

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform various physical duties as assigned
• Move, secure, install, build, load, and unload materials
• Maintain all safety standards and wear all PPE as required
• Perform some specialised tasks which may require on-the job training
• Effectively use heavy and light equipment, depending on the jobsite / assignment
• Take direction from the Site supervisor in relation to moving items, tools, equipment, or other material from place to place and other activities
• Maintenance and upkeep of site tools and report any defects as appropriate
• Slinging and signalling operations (banksman operations) where appropriate
• Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment
• Additional ad hoc duties as and when required

Requirements

Technical Skills & Experience

• Timber framing proficiency with a knowledge of various timber framing techniques
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
• Skilled use of power tools (e.g., circular saws, nail guns) and hand tools (e.g., hammers, levels)
• Skill in using hand tools (e.g. saws, chisels, planes, and other tools to cut and shape wood accurately)
• Experience installing roof structures, and timber frame panels desirable
• Experience in site preparation and layout with an ability to measure, mark, and set out the foundation and frame layout on-site
