Senior Financial Analyst

Join Aviva Canada as a Senior Financial Analyst in Finance Operations. In this key role, you will strengthen the financial control environment by assessing and enhancing balance sheet reconciliation quality, identifying financial and operational risks, and supporting the implementation of internal controls. You will work collaboratively across finance, risk, and audit teams, ensuring processes are well-documented and control practices align with internal policies. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of experience in a similar role, strong analytical skills, and a designated accounting qualification.

Missions

• Review and test Balance Sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with internal guidelines.
• Take part in the implementation of internal control policies and procedures, and perform regular reviews to assess their effectiveness.
• Identify areas of financial and operational risks, prepare reports on MI results and findings, and propose improvements to management.

Profil recherché

- Strong accountability & ownership, professional ethics, and integrity

- 4-5 years’ experience as an Internal or External Auditor, Internal Controls, Operating Risk Analyst, or similar role

- Strong analytical skills and detail oriented

- Designated accounting professionals with CPA, CIA qualified or equivalent

- Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and familiarity with relevant finance softwares (e.g. Oracle, BlackLine)

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

- Board business knowledge in Finance accounting / reporting /planning, IT systems, Underwriting, Claims Operations, Reserving, IFRS 17

- Excellent relationship builder and communicator with proven leadership and motivation ability

- Preferably experience in financial services industry (General insurance and/or Life insurance)

- Promote teamwork, collaborative efforts with other teams

- Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
