AI Platform Engineer

Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Shape the technology behind critical business services. We're looking for an AI Platform Engineer to develop and optimise software platforms, leveraging modern engineering practices to deliver resilient, scalable, and high-performing capabilities that support millions of interactions every day.

To be successful as an AI Platform Engineer, you should have experience with:

• Kubernetes platform engineering
• Good experience building, deploying and operating secure, scalable Kubernetes platforms.
• Cloud engineering across AWS and/or Azure
• Practical experience designing, automating and supporting cloud infrastructure and services.
• Experience deploying and operating AI agents or LLM-based services, ideally using Amazon Bedrock, including monitoring, governance, quality assurance and agentic workflows across the software delivery lifecycle.

Some other highly valued skills may include

• OpenShift
• Experience building or operating platforms using OpenShift or a similar enterprise Kubernetes distribution.
• Agent security, observability, and evaluation: Knowledge of AI guardrails, evaluation frameworks, identity, access control, monitoring and operational assurance.
• Knowledge of agent evaluation, guardrails, identity, access control, monitoring and operational assurance.
• CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code and automation
• Experience building automated delivery pipelines, reusable platform capabilities and self-service deployment workflows.
• Experience building self-service platform capabilities, reusable templates, golden paths and developer enablement tooling.
• Experience monitoring and optimising AI workload consumption, platform usage and cloud costs.
