Help keep Mangawhai’s essential wastewater services running safely and reliably.

As a Wastewater Treatment Operator, you’ll carry out the day-to-day operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment assets and associated reticulation systems. You’ll complete inspections, monitor plant performance and respond to operational issues while ensuring work meets resource consent, client and regulatory requirements.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work both independently and as part of a supportive local team.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Operate, inspect and maintain wastewater treatment plant and reticulation assets
  • Complete scheduled maintenance, operational tasks and emergency works
  • Monitor plant performance and identify potential issues before they affect service
  • Maintain accurate operational records, test sheets and compliance documentation
  • Work with customers, residents and stakeholders in a professional and respectful way
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call roster, approximately one week in four

We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, works safely and can respond calmly when priorities change. You’ll be practical, reliable and committed to providing a high standard of service to the Mangawhai community.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience or a relevant qualification in wastewater treatment, water operations or reticulation systems beneficial
  • Practical maintenance and problem-solving skills, with the initiative to respond to operational issues
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, environmental protection and quality
  • Confidence completing records and using handheld electronic devices
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with colleagues and the public
  • A full Class 1 New Zealand driver licence, with a Class 2 licence considered an advantage
