Nation.better is building the AI-native operating system for UK legal services. Our platform is designed to replace fragmented, manual workflows with an intelligent, integrated system purpose-built for law firms and compliance teams.

We're a small team (engineers + law experts) shipping fast. You'll be one of the first dedicated product hires and will own delivery end-to-end, working directly with the leadership team.

We are at an inflection point: launching our Proof of Concept programme with our first cohort of legal immigration service provider clients in September 2026. This role is central to making that happen, and to everything that comes after.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the product backlog across 2 layers: User interaction gateways (Case Management System, Client Portal, Design Studio) and the AI/Platform layer (AI agents, AI models/knowledge base, automation workflows)
• Turn architecture decisions and legal-expert input into clear PRDs, user stories, and BDD-style acceptance criteria that engineers can build from without back-and-forth
• Work daily with immigration domain experts to translate regulatory rules and firm workflows into product requirements, you don't need to know the law, but you need to learn fast and ask sharp questions
• Run discovery with our pilot law firms: interviews, workflow shadowing, feedback loops on shipped features
• Prioritise ruthlessly with founders; say no with reasoning
• Track product analytics (Posthog, Amplitude), define success metrics per feature, and report to the team
• Maintain the backlog and product documentation in Notion; keep specs, statuses, and ownership clean
• Coordinate releases across a distributed engineering team; unblock, follow up, close loops

Must have:

• 3+ years as a Product Manager in B2B SaaS with shipped products you can walk us through
• Experience in a complex or regulated domain - legaltech, fintech, insurtech, govtech, healthtech, compliance tooling. You've proven you can absorb a dense domain and turn it into working software
• Strong written specs: you can show us a PRD or user story set you're proud of
• Comfort working with engineers on technical products - APIs, data models, integrations; you don't design systems, but you understand trade-offs and don't write impossible requirements
• Hands-on experience shipping AI/LLM-powered features (or deep genuine engagement with the space) - you understand prompts, evals, hallucination risk, and why "just add AI" isn't a spec
• English C1/C2 - you'll write all documentation and talk to UK-based lawyers and clients
• Startup temperament: ambiguity, speed, no process theatre, ownership without being asked

Nice to have:

• Exposure to legal services (immigration, etc) or UK market specifically
• Experience with Notion as a product ops tool, Amplitude, BDD/Gherkin
• Experience being PM #1 or working directly with a leadership team

This role is not for you if:

• You need a design/analytics/delivery team around you to function
• You prefer strategy decks over shipping
• Legal complexity sounds boring rather than interesting
