From concept planning through construction, our team delivers integrated project management, engineering, and construction support services for complex ports, heavy industrial, and mining projects. Our work includes underground utilities, industrial wastewater and pumping systems, mechanical piping and distribution, dust mitigation systems, road and rail infrastructure, and other critical site infrastructure that supports safe, efficient, and resilient operations.

This is a full-time position based out of anyone of our BC or Alberta offices working with our friendly and supportive team of experienced Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers on a wide range of port and industrial projects. The role offers a hybrid working environment, balancing in-office collaboration with flexible work options.

You are an experienced engineer, project manager, or people leader with a proven track record delivering complex infrastructure projects. You bring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to quality and client service. You are also a relationship builder who can develop and maintain trusted client partnerships, identify new opportunities, and contribute to the growth of Binnie's Ports & Industrial Division.

In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project delivery, providing technical oversight, project leadership, and strategic guidance. You will work closely with Engineers, Project Managers, designers, technologists, inspectors, clients, and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and performance. You will also collaborate with business and technical leaders on resource planning, proposal development, client engagement, and strategic growth initiatives. A key aspect of the role is mentoring and developing technical staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

YOUR ROLE:

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams in the planning, design, and delivery of ports, terminals, industrial, and mining infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight from concept development through detailed design, construction documentation, and construction support.
  • Serve as the key technical interface between civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and other engineering disciplines to ensure designs are coordinated, integrated, and aligned across the full project scope.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with client and organizational objectives.
  • Direct the preparation and review of technical deliverables, including reports, drawings, specifications, calculations, and contract documents.
  • Develop practical and innovative solutions to address technical, operational, and constructability challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, safety requirements, and Binnie’s Quality Management Program.
  • Support Project Managers with project planning, resource management, scope definition, scheduling, and fee proposal development.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineers and technical staff, fostering collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Leverage existing client relationships and proactively develop new client connections and opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, Indigenous partners, and other stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
  • Participate in business development activities, including client engagement, strategic pursuits, proposal preparation, industry involvement, and identification of new opportunities.
  • Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the Ports & Industrial Division and the broader Professional Services Group.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience delivering ports, terminals, industrial, mining, and infrastructure projects, including design, project delivery, and client management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline; P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as Engineer of Record, Design Lead, Technical Lead, or Project Manager on complex multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience leading projects through all phases, from concept development and detailed design to construction support and project closeout.
  • Strong understanding of industrial facilities, terminal operations, bulk material handling systems, site development, transportation interfaces, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Experience with project planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, financial management, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other relevant engineering design and analysis software.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, identify opportunities, secure new work, and support business growth initiatives.
  • Experience leading proposal development, client presentations, strategic pursuits, and other business development activities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical and project outcomes while exercising sound professional judgment and working with a high degree of independence.
  • Experience working with port authorities, terminal operators, industrial clients, mining companies, transportation agencies, or government organizations is considered an asset.
