The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for aMechanical Reliability Engineer in our Bulk Berth Maintenance team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

This is a dynamic role in a critical area of the business, where shipping schedules drive daily operations and agility is essential. Working closely with Tradespeople and Operations teams, you'll play a key role in improving the reliability and performance of our bulk materials handling assets through defect elimination, asset strategy development, lifecycle planning and continuous improvement initiatives. Your work will directly support plant availability, operational efficiency and the long-term success of our Bulk Berth operations.

Based right on the waterfront, this role offers a unique workplace setting that's both scenic and energising, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced Reliability Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Engineer looking to further develop their expertise in reliability engineering.

What Will You Do?

As the Mechanical Reliability Engineer for the Bulk Berth, you will:

• develop, review and optimise maintenance strategies for critical plant assets
• analyse equipment performance and reliability data to identify improvement opportunities
• lead equipment improvement, refurbishment and reliability projects from concept through to implementation
• provide technical guidance and support for complex equipment failures and operational issues
• lead defect elimination and root cause analysis (RCA) activities to improve plant reliability and performance
• coach and mentor maintenance personnel, promoting a strong reliability and defect elimination culture
• drive lifecycle asset management decisions and support long-term capital planning.
• support shutdowns, down days and major maintenance activities while ensuring safe and efficient execution

More About You

We welcome applications from both experienced Reliability Engineers and early-career Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineers with the right mindset and a passion for improving equipment performance. You'll bring:

• a Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering qualification with relevant reliability experience
• experience in heavy industry large-scale manufacturing
• knowledge of reliability-centred maintenance (RCM), defect elimination, root cause analysis (RCA), KT and continuous improvement methodologies
• experience developing maintenance strategies and improving equipment reliability
• strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
• a commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
