Operations Coordinator (Curaçao)

As Operations Coordinator you are overseeing our local hospitality operation in Curaçao. Together with a small team you will be the vital link between our tried & tested Bocobay systems & processes and the implementation of 5-star guest experiences on the ground. Your operational base will be the front desk at our flagship One Mambo Beach resort. From here you will coordinate all the work needed with both internal and external resources and bear the ultimate responsibility for guest experience across the island. The role is hands-on, meaning you will also assist guests with checking in, make them feel welcome, provide tips and guidance on local activities and amenities, and manage services like towel exchanges. You will also travel to other properties on the island as needed to provide similar services. On top of that you will work on back-office tasks such as inventories, checking up on properties, managing keys and updating listing information. In hospitality, a lot of problems are most easily solved by someone who is on the ground, so we expect you to be proactive in spotting and resolving issues before they affect guests, as well as being a friendly face who can provide pragmatic solutions for guests when inevitably the occasional issue does slip through.

Some of our early hires from when we launched in Aruba five years ago have since moved on to becoming senior managers in our fast-growing business - the same is possible in Curaçao, based on your interest, aptitude and initiative!

At Bocobay you will:

• Be at the frontline of delivering world-class guest experiences by doing whatever is necessary in the moment - from sourcing & delivering last-minute birthday candles to handling tricky guest complaints
• Take a lead role in setting up our local operations and rolling out the Bocobay playbook to Curaçao
• Coordinate internal staff members and external suppliers
• Help guests with check-ins, local tips and anything else they may need
• Manage internal admin tasks like doing inventories, checking up on properties, managing keys and updating listing information
• You will be directly responsible for the quality of the guest experience delivered by Bocobay

What we look for:

• Fluent in English & Dutch
• Previous hospitality experience is a must
• Experience in managing junior staff members is preferred
• Great interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities
• Guest-centric and positive mindset
• Organized, hardworking, and detail-oriented
• Thrives in a fast paced, ever-changing, always challenging startup environment
• Ability to work effectively both in a team environment as well as independently
• Comfort in independent problem solving with the humility to ask for help when needed

• Flexible schedule and is open to working weekends
• This position requires a valid driver’s License, clean driving record and the right to work in Curaçao

Important to note

We are a start-up company with ambitious growth plans, and this is not a 9-to-5 role (at least not always). The nature of our business means that urgent requests can come in at all times, and while we always try to make sure our staff get sufficient rest and time off, hospitality hours can be long and unpredictable during peak times. This reality is offset by flexibility around working hours during quiet times: Our default is to trust our employees, and we encourage you to make up for extra hours worked by clocking off early when there is the possibility to do so (coordinating with your team members).
