Data Engineer

The Opportunity:

Ever-expanding technology like IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence means that there’s more structured and unstructured data available today than ever before. As a data engineer, you know that organizing data can yield pivotal insights when it’s gathered from disparate sources. We need a data professional like you to help our clients find answers in their data to impact important missions from fraud detection to cancer research, to national intelligence.

As a data engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll use your skillsand experienceto help build advanced technology solutions and implement data engineering activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the industry. You’ll developand deploy the pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.

Here, you’ll work with a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced and agile environment. You’ll sharpen your skillsin analytical exploration and data examination while you support the assessment, design, development, and maintenance of scalable platforms for your clients. This position is located in Atlanta, GA or Washington, DC.

You Have:

• 3+ years of experiencein Data Warehouse development

• 3+ years of experiencewith data analysis of aggregated data from multiple sources in cloud-based environments

• 2+ years of experiencedeveloping and maintaining scalable data stores that supply big data in forms needed for business analysis

• Experiencewith SQL and Python for retrieving, parsing, and processing structured and unstructured data

• Experiencedeveloping scalable ETL or ELT workflows for reporting and analytics using cloud-based technologies

• Experience with using Cloudera or Hadoop technologies to ingest, transform, and process data

• Experience leveraging generative AI coding tools to assist in development

• Ability toperform backend SQL and NoSQL database testing, including post-deployment and data validation testing

• Ability toobtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

• Bachelor's degree

• Experiencecreating solutions within a collaborative and cross-functional team environment

• Experiencewith AWS Glue, AWS Athena, and Postgres

• Experiencewith distributed data and computing tools such as Spark, Databricks, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka

• Experienceworking on real-time data and streaming applications

• Experiencewith NoSQL implementation using MongoDB or Cassandra

• Experiencewith data warehousing, including AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake

• Experiencewith UNIX and Linux, including basic commands and Shell scripting

• Experiencewith Agile engineering practices
