Brain Station 23 PLC is looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator with strong expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL administration, high availability, replication, and disaster recovery. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with PostgreSQL HA using Patroni, etcd/Consul, HAProxy, and PgBouncer, PostgreSQL backup and recovery using pgBackRest, MySQL HA using Percona XtraDB Cluster, and database monitoring, security, automation, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, administer, and upgrade Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases.

  • Design and operate PostgreSQL high-availability clusters using Patroni, etcd/Consul, HAProxy, and PgBouncer.

  • Implement and manage PostgreSQL backup and point-in-time recovery using pgBackRest.

  • Design and operate MySQL high-availability clusters using Percona XtraDB Cluster.

  • Implement and manage database replication, failover, and disaster recovery procedures.

  • Plan and execute database migrations, including Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migrations.

  • Perform backup, restoration, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

  • Implement database security controls, including access management, encryption, auditing, and hardening.

  • Set up database monitoring and alerting, and automate routine administration tasks.

  • Troubleshoot database performance, availability, replication, and connectivity issues.

  • Collaborate with application, cloud, DevOps, and cybersecurity teams.

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in database administration or related fields.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.

  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL HA using Patroni, etcd/Consul, HAProxy, and PgBouncer.

  • Hands-on experience with pgBackRest for backup and recovery.

  • Hands-on experience with MySQL HA using Percona XtraDB Cluster.

  • Experience with database replication, disaster recovery, and migration.

  • Experience with performance tuning, upgrades, and capacity planning.

  • Experience with database monitoring, security, and automation (Bash, Python, or similar).

  • Strong Linux experience and troubleshooting skills.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Oracle OCP, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other relevant database certifications will be an advantage.
