What You’ll Do

Working with BrightBee, you'll have access to number of different work assignments in the Bay Area. Right now we have a high need with our afterschool YMCA partner for Group Leader roles in San Jose. During your interview, we will go into detail about what assignments are available at these sites. The more sites and assignment types you are open to working, the more your earning potential is.

Schedule

• Monday- Friday (1:45pm-6:00pm)
• Ideal candidates will be able to work 2-3 days a week

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and lead engaging group activities, ranging from structured physical education and team-building games to creative arts and STEM projects. You will be responsible for keeping students motivated, ensuring high participation, and adapting activities to suit different age groups and energy levels.
• Provide dedicated homework assistance and small-group tutoring. You will help students understand core concepts, practice study skills, and complete assignments, ensuring that the after-school hours are a productive extension of the classroom.
• Maintain active supervision of students during transitions, snack time, and recreational periods. You will implement positive behavior management strategies to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment, adhering to all program safety protocols and check-out procedures.
• Assist with daily operations, including taking attendance, preparing activity materials, and maintaining a clean environment. You will also serve as a point of contact for parents during pick-up, providing brief, professional updates on student progress or behavior.

Basic Requirements

• 48 college credits
• Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus

Before You Start

To keep students safe, you’ll need to:

• Pass a background check
• Follow safety and reporting guidelines
• Complete required school clearances,which you are responsible for paying.
  • Costs associated with the clearance process are the sole responsibility of the candidate, as this engagement is for an independent contractor role rather than a traditional employment position. Requirements vary by state, but may include the cost of a background check, obtaining a copy of any college transcript you have, and the cost of completing Mandated Reporter training. The average cost of completing clearance in California is $130.
