Role Summary
Bybit is looking for a Regulatory Compliance Director to lead our Regulatory Compliance function. This is a hands-on role leading a small team that sits at the heart of how we bring new products and features to market responsibly.
Day to day, you will be the compliance voice in the product development process: assessing new products, evaluating material changes, and helping teams find solutions that work commercially within the company's risk appetite. You will need sharp judgment to separate hard regulatory constraints from manageable risks, and the confidence to escalate when something needs to go higher. This is not a policy-writing role; it is about getting real products through the compliance process efficiently and with the right documentation behind them.
Key Responsibilities
Lead compliance reviews across Bybit's global product portfolio, covering new launches, feature changes, market expansions, and modifications to existing offerings.
Assess product documentation, user flows, onboarding journeys, trading mechanics, reward structures, disclosures, and back-end processes against applicable regulatory requirements.
Use a structured, risk-tiered approach to determine what constitutes a regulatory blocker, what can be managed through controls or restrictions, and what requires escalation or formal risk acceptance.
Prepare thorough, well-documented compliance assessments covering areas including regulatory perimeter and licensing, AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC, consumer protection, financial promotions, market conduct, asset safeguarding, data privacy, and third-party risk.
Deliver clear, actionable compliance positions with specific mitigants, residual risk analysis, and a defined path to approval or escalation.
Partner closely with Business Units, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Legal and Compliance teams across jurisdictions to turn compliance requirements into practical design decisions.
Build and maintain audit-ready records for all product reviews, approvals, conditions, exceptions, and subsequent changes.
Contribute to post-launch assurance and control testing; work with Audit and Compliance colleagues to close out any gaps identified after go-live.
Drive compliance-by-design thinking across product and engineering stakeholders; develop training materials and targeted guidance as needed.
Take on high-priority project work and time-sensitive product launches as they arise.
Requirements
8 or more years of experience in Compliance, Legal, or Risk in financial services, fintech, payments, or the crypto industry.
Substantial direct experience reviewing new products and advising on regulatory risk, in a product compliance, regulatory advisory, or product risk capacity.
Deep familiarity with the digital-asset product landscape, including trading, custody, payments, staking, earn, lending, structured products, wallets, and DeFi.
Solid grounding in the key regulatory frameworks relevant to a global crypto business: licensing and perimeter, AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC, consumer protection, financial promotions, and market conduct.
Ability to break down complex regulatory requirements and translate them into concrete product controls and specifications.
Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to give a clear compliance position without being unnecessarily obstructive.
Track record of building scalable review processes and repeatable compliance solutions that hold up under scrutiny.
Organised and execution-focused, capable of running multiple concurrent reviews while keeping documentation accurate and deadlines met.
Confident communicator who can present a compliance position clearly, lead stakeholder discussions, and push back constructively where needed.
Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy across a fast-moving, globally distributed organisation.
Strong personal integrity and the judgment to know when something needs to be escalated.
Degree in law, finance, business, economics, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Product compliance or regulatory advisory background gained at a crypto exchange, fintech, or technology-driven financial services business.
Experience taking products to market across multiple jurisdictions, particularly in the UAE, EU, or Asia-Pacific.
Hands-on knowledge of CeFi products including spot and derivatives trading, leverage, custody, institutional services, and OTC.
Working knowledge of Web3 and on-chain products, including smart contracts, DeFi protocols, and blockchain transaction mechanics.
Experience designing compliance risk frameworks, defining key risk indicators, and building out control environments.
Comfort with AI-enabled compliance tooling and an appetite to use technology to improve review consistency and throughput.
