Tech Lead - Mobile (Android + iOS)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced  Tech Lead - Mobile (Android + iOS)  to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performance mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in either Android or iOS, along with a solid understanding of both mobile platforms.

The Tech Lead will be responsible for driving mobile architecture and technical decisions, establishing engineering best practices, mentoring developers, and working closely with Product, Design, QA, Backend, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality mobile solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-performance Android and iOS applications.
• Own mobile application architecture, technical standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Provide technical leadership across the complete application lifecycle, from requirement analysis and solution design through development, testing, release, and production support.
• Make sound technical decisions related to architecture, frameworks, libraries, integrations, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Drive adoption of appropriate architectural patterns such as MVVM, Clean Architecture, and other modern mobile architecture practices.
• Review technical designs, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards, security practices, and quality guidelines.
• Mentor and guide Senior and Junior mobile developers through technical coaching, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Break down complex requirements into technical solutions, development tasks, and actionable implementation plans.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, Backend Engineering, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues, performance bottlenecks, application stability problems, and production incidents.
• Establish and improve mobile development practices around testing, CI/CD, release management, monitoring, and application quality.
• Ensure mobile applications follow secure coding practices and relevant security and compliance requirements.
• Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and tools and recommend their adoption where they provide measurable technical or business value.
• Support estimation, technical planning, sprint planning, and delivery tracking from a technical perspective.
• Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to the overall technology roadmap for mobile applications.
• Ensure consistency in development practices across Android and iOS teams and promote effective knowledge sharing between platforms.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of professional experience  in mobile application development, with significant experience in Android and/or iOS development.
• Strong hands-on expertise in  Android (Kotlin/Java)  and/or  iOS (Swift/Objective-C)  development.
• Strong understanding of modern mobile application architecture, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
• Experience designing and implementing MVVM, Clean Architecture, and modular/scalable application architectures.
• Strong understanding of Android SDK and modern Android development frameworks, or equivalent expertise in iOS SDK and modern iOS development practices.
• For Android: strong knowledge of Jetpack Components, including ViewModel, Room, Navigation, LiveData/Flow, and related libraries.
• For iOS: strong knowledge of Swift, UIKit/SwiftUI, concurrency, networking, persistence, and modern iOS frameworks.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with REST APIs, authentication mechanisms, backend services, and third-party SDKs.
• Strong knowledge of mobile application security, secure coding practices, data protection, and compliance requirements.
• Strong understanding of mobile performance optimization, memory management, crash analysis, and application stability.
• Experience with unit testing, UI/integration testing, code quality tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automated release processes.
• Strong experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Proven experience conducting code reviews and establishing engineering standards.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, analytical, and technical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor mobile engineering teams.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to independently drive technical initiatives and take ownership of outcomes.
• Strong collaboration skills across Product, UX/UI, QA, Backend, DevOps, and business teams.
• Ability to balance technical quality, delivery timelines, maintainability, and business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building enterprise-grade, large-scale, or high-traffic mobile applications.
• Experience leading Android and iOS teams or working in a multi-platform mobile engineering environment.
• Experience with mobile application modularization and reusable component development.
• Familiarity with cloud services, observability, analytics, crash monitoring, and mobile application monitoring platforms.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and distributed or client-facing development teams.
• Experience working with CI/CD and automated deployment to Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
• Exposure to cross-platform technologies such as Flutter or React Native is an added advantage.
• Experience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments is an advantage.
