Demi Chef- Required

A company based in Benoni is looking for an experienced and passionate Demi Chef to join our busy kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have strong cooking skills, particularly in grilling and the preparation of a variety of hot meals, pies, and quiches, while maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of chicken, fish, and meat dishes to company standards.
• Prepare chicken mixtures and cook chicken and fish dishes accordingly.
• Prepare bobotie mince mixtures and beef lasagna mixtures.
• Prepare a range of pie and quiche mixtures for daily production.
• Operate grills and cooking equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality and presentation standards.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and kitchen procedures at all times.
• Assist with stock control, food preparation, and kitchen organization.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday: 07:00 - 17:00
• Saturdays: Off
• Sundays: 07:00 - 17:00 (3 Sundays per month)
• One full weekend off per month
• Overtime may be required based on operational requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Previous experience as a Demi Chef or in a comparable kitchen position.
• Proven grilling experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to food quality and consistency.
• Reliable, hardworking, and professional.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain production standards.

Experience & Skills Required

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a commercial kitchen, deli, catering environment, or similar food production role.
• Previous experience as a Demi Chef, Cook, Hot Kitchen Chef, or similar position.
• Proven experience in grilling and preparing chicken, fish, and meat dishes.
• Experience preparing chicken mixtures, bobotie mince mixtures, beef lasagna mixtures, pies, and quiches.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen best practices.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on food quality, consistency, and presentation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Capable of working independently while contributing effectively to a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to work overtime when required.
