Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to join our Accident & Health team as a Critical Illness and Dread Disease product specialist. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding and managing our Critical Illness/Dread Disease portfolio across the Asia Pacific region. They will have responsibility for assessing, evaluating, and underwriting direct marketing insurance products in the critical illness and dread disease category, tailored to diverse markets within the Asia Pacific region. This position is ideal for an individual with proven expertise in pricing, portfolio management, and, ideally, business development within the insurance sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategies to grow the Critical Illness/Dread Disease portfolio in line with business objectives
  • Conduct in-depth pricing analysis and develop competitive product offerings tailored to market needs
  • Perform portfolio analysis to monitor performance, identify trends, and recommend actions to optimize profitability and growth
  • Collaborate with distribution, product development and marketing teams to support product positioning, channel strategies, and market-specific requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and consistency in risk evaluation, adhering to local regulations and guidelines
  • Provide technical support for claims and product development across multiple markets, ensuring adaptability and responsiveness to changing regulatory or medical trends
  • Product Development and Innovation
    • Lead the design and development of new CI/Dread Disease products across the region, working closely with regional and country colleagues teams to bring propositions from concept to launch.
    • Define and maintain CI definition frameworks, benefit structures, and covered condition lists appropriate to local market norms and regulatory requirements, ensuring competitiveness across key APAC markets.
    • Identify emerging trends and unmet protection gaps and translate these into actionable product opportunities.
    • Monitor competitor product offerings and industry benchmarks to inform product positioning and updates.
    • Support product filing and regulatory approval processes in collaboration with local compliance teams, ensuring new products meet market-specific requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Pricing and Technical Underwriting:
    • Provide technical underwriting expertise to design new CI/Dread Disease products, develop underwriting guidelines, ensuring alignment with company objectives
    • Develop and maintain robust CI pricing models in collaboration with actuaries, calibrated for regional variances, claims trends and emerging risk factors
    • Conduct technical underwriting assessments for complex or high-value cases, providing guidance on risk selection.
  • Portfolio Management:
    • Work closely with Portfolio Management Team in the development and management of the Critical Illness portfolio by analyzing portfolio health, identifying trends and recommending solutions.
    • Monitor and evaluate portfolio performance against benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Optimization Techniques:
    • Identify segments for growth by optimizing product offering or distribution strategies
    • Develop strategies to enhance policy bind rates and renewal retention
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare comprehensive reports and visualizations to present findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.
    • Document models, processes, and methodologies for compliance and future reference.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with portfolio managers, product development, actuaries, underwriting, financial analysts, and other team members to develop and manage new and existing products and portfolios.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Extensive knowledge of CI product design and distribution strategies with strong focus on portfolio growth
  • 5+ years of experience in Critical Illness pricing and portfolio management, including familiarity with CI definition structures and rating methodologies.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing or contributing to CI portfolio in Asia Pacific
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, risk assessment and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in cross-functional and cross-market environments.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Prior experience supporting claims and working with distribution partners is highly valued.
