B&A Studios is a multidisciplinary planning, urban design, landscape architecture, and communications and engagement practice with a strong presence in Western Canada. As part of CIMA+, one of Canada's leading consulting engineering firms, our team brings together creative thinking, technical expertise, and collaborative approaches to help shape vibrant, sustainable communities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career designer with 1 to 2 years of professional experience, or a recent graduate with a strong portfolio, who is looking to develop their skills, gain valuable project experience, and grow within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

Working alongside experienced graphic designers, planners, urban designers, landscape architects, communications and engagement professionals, and engineers, you will help transform ideas and complex information into clear, compelling visual communications.

You will contribute to a diverse range of client projects, public engagement initiatives, reports, proposals, presentations, and marketing materials. The position offers significant variety, hands-on experience, and opportunities to learn from experienced professionals while contributing your own creativity and fresh perspectives.

What You'll Do

  • Support the development of graphics, layouts, and visual communications for a variety of planning, design, and engagement projects.
  • Assist in designing and producing reports, planning documents, presentations, proposals, brochures, display boards, signage, and other print and digital materials.
  • Collaborate with our Communications & Engagement team to create materials for public engagement programs, including open houses, workshops, online engagement, and community communications.
  • Help translate technical or complex information into clear, accessible, and visually engaging materials.
  • Contribute to the development of project branding, visual identities, templates, infographics, diagrams, and other creative assets.
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives, including proposals, qualifications packages, presentations, social media graphics, and promotional materials.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to develop creative solutions that respond to project objectives, client needs, and audience considerations.
  • Assist with projects from initial concept through design development, production, and final delivery, with guidance and support from experienced team members.
  • Manage assigned tasks and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail, quality, and consistency.
  • Participate in design reviews, incorporate feedback, and contribute creative ideas to strengthen our team's visual communications.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a creative, curious, and detail-oriented designer who is eager to learn, enjoys working with others, and brings strong design fundamentals and a willingness to take on new challenges.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 1 to 2 years of professional graphic design experience. Recent graduates with exceptional portfolios demonstrating strong creative and technical abilities are also encouraged to apply.
  • High proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Strong skills in typography, layout, composition, colour, visual hierarchy, and information design.
  • Familiarity with designing materials for both print and digital applications.
  • An interest in translating technical or complex information into clear, engaging graphics and documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, polished, and high-quality work.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to manage assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an interest in collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A positive attitude, creative curiosity, and a willingness to receive feedback, develop new skills, and contribute ideas.
  • A portfolio demonstrating creativity, design fundamentals, and technical abilities. Academic, personal, and professional projects are all welcome.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence

Experience or familiarity with any of the following would be considered an asset, but is not required:

  • Planning, architecture, urban design, engineering, or land development projects.
  • Public engagement or community communications.
  • Infographics, diagrams, and information visualization.
  • Project branding and visual identity development.
  • Photography, videography, or video editing.
  • Website or digital content design.
  • Social media and digital marketing.
