Position Summary
The West Region Lead for U.S. Community Relations is a pivotal leadership role within Citi's Community Investing and Development (CID) team. CID advances economic opportunity through impact investing, employee volunteerism, the philanthropy of the Citi Foundation, and the fulfillment of regulatory obligations, including the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) in the United States. This role leads Citi's community engagement and stakeholder relations strategy across the West Region, including California, Illinois, Nevada, and South Dakota. Working closely with the Citi Foundation, Government Affairs, and business lines, the West Region Lead helps shape and advance economic opportunity while supporting Citi's mission and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) commitments. Role is based in Los Angeles, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the West Region Community Relations team, aligning engagement strategies with CID's national objectives and promoting best practices.
- Ensure alignment with CRA priorities by executing regional CRA-related activities, monitoring performance data, and coordinating internal processes, as appropriate.
- Manage the region's charitable contribution budget, ensuring investments support CID priorities and align with local community needs.
- Oversee the execution of strategic initiatives across the West Region, including firmwide and Citi Foundation-led programs such as Blueprint for Housing Opportunity and Global Community Day.
- Partner with the Citi Foundation to implement regional programs, including philanthropic and employee volunteer engagement opportunities.
- Collaborate with CID leadership, Government Affairs, and business lines to coordinate engagement with key stakeholders, including nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and external thought leaders.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in community development, informing strategy through insights on regional market dynamics, public policy, and place-based investment approaches.
- Convene community organizations and thought leaders across the region to identify local needs and advance community investment solutions.
- Monitor and manage reputational risks associated with community initiatives, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating issues as needed.
- Represent Citi at convenings, public events, community meetings, conferences, and other internal and external engagement opportunities.
- Support CID's regional stakeholder engagement and visibility efforts, increasing awareness among senior business leaders and internal councils.
Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in community relations, nonprofit management, philanthropy, banking, or a related field, with strong knowledge of CRA regulations.
- Deep knowledge of the regional nonprofit sector and established relationships with community leaders and organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and achieve results across regional or multi-market environments.
- Strong relationship management and project/program management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including executive leaders and community advocates.
- Experience supporting thought leadership and external visibility initiatives at the local, regional, or national level.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with AI tools and technology adoption preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$155,360.00 - $233,040.00In addition to salary, Citi’s offerings may also include, for eligible employees, discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
