About the Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at an early-stage AI freight-tech startup, you will be embedded directly with customers to uncover their deepest operational challenges and translate them into working product. Sitting at the intersection of logistics teams and a tight-knit founding engineering team, you will turn workflow complexity into clarity across one of the world's most demanding industries.
What You'll Do
Partner directly with logistics teams to understand their workflows and translate customer needs into system design.
Build fast, AI-powered tools across the full stack using Node.js and TypeScript.
Integrate with enterprise ecosystems such as ERP, TMS, SFTP, and event queues, and construct reliable data pipelines for messy, real-world data.
Shape product direction and technical decisions alongside the founding team.
Travel regularly to key customer accounts across Europe and Asia to maintain close relationships.
Write clean, production-ready code and own outcomes from design through deployment.
What We're Looking For
3 or more years building full-stack applications or backend systems in production environments.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js; React or another modern frontend framework is a plus.
Proven experience designing and integrating with enterprise systems such as ERPs, TMSs, and third-party APIs.
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure tools such as Docker, Terraform, GCP, or AWS.
Experience building and maintaining data pipelines that handle unstructured or multi-source data.
Demonstrated ability to ship quickly and iterate based on direct user feedback.
Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable working in high-autonomy, early-stage environments with full ownership of outcomes.
Familiarity with GenAI or LLM architectures such as RAG, evals, or orchestration is a bonus.
Background in logistics, supply chain, or operations is a plus.
Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites across Europe and Asia.
Location
Berlin-based, hybrid. Regular travel to customer sites in Europe and Asia. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
