About the Role
This is a founding engineering role at an early-stage B2B energy tech startup, building an AI-powered platform that helps industrial companies optimize energy procurement and consumption. You will own the full product lifecycle, working directly with customers and the founding team to turn complex energy market dynamics into elegant, high-impact software.
What You'll Do
Take end-to-end ownership of product features, from initial design through to deployment.
Collaborate closely with customers to translate procurement challenges into clear product requirements.
Build performant backend services for a data-intensive, decision-support application.
Design and develop intuitive, elegant user interfaces for complex energy management workflows.
Train time-series forecasting models for power consumption and renewables production.
Develop linear optimisation algorithms aimed at reducing customer energy costs.
Help define and shape the core tech stack, including PostgreSQL, TypeScript, React, and Python.
What We're Looking For
2+ years of software engineering experience delivering scalable web applications in an early-stage or high-intensity startup environment.
Strong software engineering fundamentals: robust, maintainable, production-grade code across backend and frontend.
Demonstrated experience delivering full product features independently, directly with customers.
Experience building frontend UIs for complex decision-support or data-intensive applications.
Experience building backend services for data-heavy workloads.
Familiarity with PostgreSQL, React, and Python; FastAPI or Supabase experience is a bonus.
Hands-on experience or strong interest in time-series forecasting and/or linear optimisation.
A product mindset and genuine curiosity for energy markets and complex business applications.
Generalist or former technical lead background is a plus; any background paired with clear startup grit is welcome.
