Product Engineer (Mid-Level)
About the Role
This is a full-stack Product Engineer role at an early-stage AI recruiting platform connecting top talent directly with startups. You'll work closely with founders across the entire product lifecycle - from scoping and architecture to shipping user-facing features - and play a meaningful role in shaping technical direction as the company scales.
What You'll Do
Own end-to-end product features from requirements and design through to production deployment.
Design APIs and data models, implementing both frontend and backend code.
Ship user-facing experiences that balance usability and performance, iterating based on feedback and metrics.
Integrate LLM and AI capabilities into core product flows to make intelligence reliable for end users.
Build and maintain scalable backend services, data schemas, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and automated testing.
Collaborate directly with founders, product, and design to prioritize work and define success metrics.
Contribute to architecture and roadmap discussions, making pragmatic tradeoffs suited to early-stage growth.
What We're Looking For
2-8 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping user-facing products.
Strong full-stack proficiency: TypeScript and React/Next.js on the frontend; Python or Node.js on the backend.
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and at least one major cloud platform (AWS or GCP).
Practical, production-grade experience integrating LLMs or other AI services (engineering focus, not research).
Demonstrated product ownership - ability to translate user problems into measurable, shipped solutions.
Comfort operating in small teams with limited process, high ambiguity, and fluid role boundaries.
Experience implementing monitoring, observability, automated testing, and CI/CD for production systems.
Meaningful startup experience and evidence of rapid progression or notable impact.
Nice to have: experience building multi-tenant or enterprise-ready systems, real-time or high-throughput applications, or working in regulated industries such as healthcare, fintech, or legal.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $150,000 - $300,000 USD per year (equity likely given stage). Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Location
On-site in San Francisco, CA. This role requires regular in-person presence.
