Join an extraordinary team at Cleveland Clinic, home to the world’s largest and most technologically advanced neuroscience-focused facility. Set to open in early 2027, our new neurological center will be the largest building on our Main Campus-designed to redefine what’s possible in neurological care.

As we prepare for this historic expansion, Cleveland Clinic is recruiting Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs) to join the Division of Multi-Specialty Anesthesiology. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, supporting complex neurological procedures while also delivering anesthesia care across a wide variety of surgical specialties.

A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) in a hospital inpatient environment, preferably involving high-acuity cases, is strongly preferred.

Schedule

  • Multiple scheduling options available.

  • Infrequent weekend and holiday obligations.

  • In-house call required only 4-5 times per year (3pm-7am), as part of regular weekly hours.

Administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery. Monitors the patient's physical reaction to the anesthetic and informs the physician of any adverse condition. Administers emergency measures when complications arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains a comprehensive patient history and performs relevant elements of a physical exam.
  • Discusses findings and anesthetic plan with supervising anesthesiologist before induction of anesthesia.
  • Reviews the patient's condition with the anesthesiologist immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia.
  • Pretests and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems.
  • Administers blood, blood products and supportive fluids.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents.

Certifications:

  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • Current, valid certificate of registration.
  • Written practice protocol consistent with section 4760.09 of the Revised Code.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • None required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
