Medina Hospital’s 2 North Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializes in the care of cardiac and neurological patients who require close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions. Our dedicated team provides expert care for patients with complex medical conditions, including those recovering from cardiac events,strokeand other neurological disorders. The PCU serves as an intermediate care unit, bridging the gap between intensive care and general medical-surgical care, ensuring that patients receive high-quality, specialized treatment tailored to their needs. Our skilled nurses are trained in advanced cardiac and neurological interventions, delivering compassionate and evidence-based care tooptimizepatient outcomes.

As a Clinical Technician on the team, you will support your fellow caregivers and medical staff by providing patients with top-quality care in the Progressive Care Unit. Under the supervision of an RN, you will utilizeyour technical and applicable skills to enhance the patientexperience and create a welcoming, healing environment. Helping patients with seemingly simpletasks like self-care can make a meaningful difference in their lives, offering a unique opportunity to truly take pride in your work. You will also provide clerical support in this role, acting as a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). A caregiver in this position workspart-timedaysfrom 7:00AM - 7:30PM, including rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assistwith patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assistingpatients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devicesand inserting urinary Foley Catheters.

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mentaland emotional conditions to an RN.

• Assistwith keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period

• Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification requiredupon hire

• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
