Our Institute is expanding with a new one million square foot, 15 floor, state of the art facility on Main Campus to enhance care for complex conditions such as brain tumors, spine injuries, epileptic seizures, neuromuscular disorders and strokes. The building brings all stages of care under one roof with dedicated areas for outpatient services, surgery, stepdown, ICU and epilepsy monitoring, along with additional operating rooms and expanded ambulatory, infusion, imaging, EMG, sleep and brain study services. As PhlebotomyTechnician, you are an integral member of the Medical Laboratory Team. Many patients often find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn frightening. Using your experience and skills, you can help put the patient at ease while obtaining all the required specimens. While helping enhance the care experience, you can also explore the countless educational and professional development resources offered by Cleveland Clinic, including online courses, in-person trainingsand more.

A caregiver in this position works 1st shift: Weekdays 3:00am--7:00am, Weekends 3:00am--11:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture proceduresand maintainappropriate logsheets.

• Verify order requests and identifyinformation prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.

• Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processingarea.

• Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugationand packaging.

• Pick up and deliver blood, other sample typesand lab supplies.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Technical proficiencywith standard procedures, techniquesand common practices

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Formal Phlebotomy Certification

• Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship

• One year of Phlebotomy experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.
• Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
