Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated medical campus that includes diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency departmentlocatedin thestate-of-the-arthospital. Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) Technicians use specialized equipment and processes tomonitora patient’s nervous system activity. They set up,performandmonitorEEG tests which record the electrical activity of a patient’s brain over time. EEG Technicians work under the supervision of epileptologists,neurologistsor other doctors. By performing outpatient EEG monitoring in this role, you will help to create specialized diagnoses toassistin creating patient care plans as well as help to manage patients with chronic conditions. A caregiver in this position worksMonday-Friday from 7:30AM - 4:00PM, including an on-call rotation.

Martin North will be the primary work location, but floating to Martin South and Tradition will berequired, as needed.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform routine and complex EEG examinations in the laboratory, at thepatientsbedside, Intensive CareUnitsand operating room.

• Select predetermined electrode combinations andobservepatientwith video recording equipment.

• Ensure EEG and tape are lined up exactly.

• Check focus,lightingand microphone.

• Abstract relevant information from thepatientsclinical record and obtainadditionalinformation.

• Perform electroencephalographic examinations on patients.

• Schedule and organize special procedure tests, angiography, X-ray studies, etc.

• Serve as an instructor for new personnel.

• Provide training in the interpretation of EEG recordings,applicationsand the academics of EEG technology.

• Maintain equipment in clean operatingconditionand perform proper maintenance.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of an accredited EEG program OR anAssociate's DegreeinElectroneurodiagnosticsor related patient care field

• Registered EEG Technician (R.EEG.T)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

• One year experience as an EEG Technician

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.

• Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 320 pounds and Evoked Potential machine weighing 420 pounds.

• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
