This is a 12-week internship during summer 2027.

As a Tax Information Reporting Intern, you'll join the Tax team within Finance and support the day-to-day operations of Coinbase's global tax information reporting and withholding function. This team ensures Coinbase complies with its tax obligations across all jurisdictions, building tax protocols adapted for the holding, purchase, sale, and trading of digital assets. You'll collaborate across Tax, Product, Platform, and Data teams to drive accuracy in reporting, support IRS filing readiness, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

What you'll do:

• Tax Logic & Rule Mapping: Analyze federal and international tax regulations to ensure proper mapping of tax laws into transaction systems across multi-venue products.
• Data Analysis & Auditing: Work with large transaction datasets using data analysis tools to audit reporting inputs, spot inconsistencies, and identify underlying discrepancies across product lines.
• IRS & Global Reporting Readiness: Support the operational preparation, quality assurance, and filing execution for US information returns (such as Form 1099-DA, Form 1042-S, and the 1099 series) and international AEOI frameworks (including CARF, CRS, and DAC8) across various product lines.
• AI & Process Automation: Partner with Tax, Engineering, and Product teams to design and implement AI-driven solutions and automated workflows that optimize tax data processing, improve inquiry resolution, and streamline operating procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:

• A strong interest or curiosity in tax rules, regulatory frameworks, and how compliance operates in the financial or tech sector
• Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related discipline
• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets with demonstrated ability to manipulate, validate, and analyze large datasets
• Experience performing data quality checks or reconciliations through coursework, projects, or prior internships
• Familiarity with SQL, Snowflake, Looker, or similar analytics tools through coursework or self-directed learning
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality

Hourly Rate:

$40—$40 USD
